LayarHijau – After nearly five years, Xiaomi is finally unveiling a true successor to its entry-level HD streaming stick. The Xiaomi TV Stick HD (2nd Gen) recently surfaced on the company’s global website, signaling that a worldwide launch is imminent.
On paper, it delivers the expected upgrades: faster performance, enhanced video support, and the same budget-friendly approach that made the original a favorite for reviving older televisions.
However, the hardware choices are a mixed bag. The persistence of a micro-USB port in 2024 feels like a step backward, as if Xiaomi is simply clearing out old components. While the switch to Google TV significantly improves usability, the decision to stick with only 1GB of RAM is disappointing given the resource-heavy nature of modern streaming apps.
Xiaomi states the new stick offers a 38% CPU performance boost over the first-gen model, powered by upgraded Cortex-A55 cores and a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. It also supports AV1 decoding, a modern codec essential for efficient streaming.
Although capped at 1080p 60Hz, the device adds HDR10+ support along with Dolby Audio and DTS:X for a more immersive experience. While compact and practical, the 1GB RAM and 8GB storage limit may lead to sluggish multitasking and longer loading times as the Google TV interface becomes more demanding over time.
