TCL first revealed plans to bring the Xbox Game Pass app to its Google TV models at CES 2026 in January. At the time, however, Microsoft had not publicly confirmed the partnership, and there had been no significant updates for several months.

Microsoft has now officially announced its collaboration with TCL, although the exact release date has yet to be revealed.
“Today, we’re announcing a new partnership with TCL that will bring the Xbox app to select TCL Smart TVs in the coming months,” Microsoft said.
Once available, the Xbox app will allow users with supported TCL Smart TVs to access Xbox Cloud Gaming through an eligible Game Pass subscription and stream games directly on their television.
Eligible Game Pass subscribers will also be able to access a broad selection of games through cloud gaming, including blockbuster titles, popular franchises, and indie favorites.
Interestingly, Microsoft does not specifically mention Google TV in its latest announcement. This could mean the Xbox app will initially be limited to select TCL Smart TVs rather than being released broadly across the Google TV platform.
TCL is one of the largest Google TV partners and uses the platform across much of its TV lineup. The company also produces TVs running Roku and Fire TV, but it had previously highlighted the Xbox app in connection with its newer Google TV models.
Despite finally confirming the partnership, Microsoft says the Xbox app is still “coming months” away. That means users may have to wait even longer, despite nearly nine months having passed since TCL first announced the collaboration.
The announcement also comes just one day after Microsoft revealed major changes to cloud gaming on Xbox Game Pass. Players will have a monthly cloud gaming time limit, with usage capped at up to 15 hours before additional payment is required.
For TCL owners, the upcoming Xbox app could offer a convenient way to play Xbox games without owning an Xbox console. However, Microsoft has yet to reveal the exact launch date or the full list of TCL TV models that will support the app.
