Fan Changyu is portrayed as a woman with remarkable physical strength. Zhang Linghe even joked that Tian Xiwei was genuinely strong because she could carry him on her back. Their romance also features memorable lines and intimate scenes that have attracted considerable attention from viewers.
An Unforgettable Confession and Their Favorite Kissing Scene
One of Fan Changyu’s most memorable lines is, “I’ll slaughter pigs to support you.” Zhang Linghe recalled being surprised when he first heard the line, wondering, “Slaughter pigs? How would that support me?”
However, when he considered the circumstances Fan Changyu was facing in the story, he began to understand the emotional weight behind her words. She had already lost so much, yet she was still willing to make that promise. According to Zhang Linghe, this showed how important the person she loved was to her. The two actors even jokingly called it “the latest confession style of 2026,” saying the line was catchy and hard to get out of one’s head.
Beyond the memorable dialogue, Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei also agreed on their favorite kissing scene: the “chenpi candy kiss.”
In the scene, Fan Changyu approaches Xie Zheng and notices the scent of chenpi candy on him. Xie Zheng then asks whether she wants some. The two are swept up in the moment and kiss, heightening the romantic tension between them.
Tian Xiwei explained that the confined space made the characters’ growing attraction more apparent. It also intensified the development of their relationship.
Director Zeng Qingjie Discusses Filming the Kissing Scenes
Director Zeng Qingjie revealed that Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei were highly professional when filming their kissing scenes. Neither actor required much specific guidance from him.
Instead, Zeng often had to stop filming while monitoring the footage because he needed to find the right composition and camera angles. He explained that he repeatedly called for a pause to achieve the shots he wanted.
Meanwhile, Zhang Linghe praised the beautiful cinematography in Pursuit of Jade. He knew the director had worked to make him look handsome on screen, but he was still amazed when he saw the finished footage.
Zhang Linghe expressed his surprise, saying, “So you can film it like this!”
