LayarHijau – Pokémon trading cards have become highly sought-after collectibles, with rare cards occasionally fetching record-breaking prices at auctions. This time, collectors are paying attention to a card featuring artwork created not by an official Pokémon designer, but by a Japanese child who was just six years old at the time.
The card recently sold at an online auction for $156,000. Its extraordinary price reflects both its rarity and its pristine condition, which earned it the highest possible grade from a professional trading card authentication and grading company.

The card was originally created by Megu Taniguchi in 2010 for a Pokémon Zoroark design contest held to celebrate the release of the animated film Pokémon: Zoroark: Master of Illusions. At the time, Taniguchi was only six years old and won first place in the kindergarten category.
Only 100 copies of the card were printed after the design was completed. This limited production run has made the card difficult to find on the market, particularly for collectors seeking unusual pieces of Pokémon history.
Although the illustration lacks the polished details of professionally designed Pokémon cards, Taniguchi’s work has nevertheless attracted collectors’ interest. Its historical significance and rarity make it especially appealing, as the card originated from an official competition won by a young child.
One copy recently sold for $156,000 at an online auction. The card received a PSA 10 grade, the highest rating for card condition awarded by Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA).
However, the auction does not necessarily mean Taniguchi will receive a share of the proceeds. Since the transaction took place on the secondary market, Taniguchi may not receive any royalties from the sale.
Even so, the extraordinary price could serve as belated recognition of Taniguchi’s creativity. Artwork created when Taniguchi was just six years old has now become a highly valuable collectible, demonstrating how rarity, condition, and a card’s backstory can all play important roles in determining its market value.
