In the series, Jing Boran plays Luan Nian, a director at an advertising agency. The character is portrayed as polished and professional at the office, but more tender and conflicted when it comes to matters of the heart. His natural performance has been well received by viewers.
Several other Jing Boran projects are also awaiting release dates. One is Gu Yu (谷雨) — Grain Rain, a drama centered on tax audits. He plays Ouyang Xu, a tax official, and shares the screen with Zhang Songwen. Another is Jia You Qi Lang (家有七郎) — A Home with Seven Sons, a period family drama and a flagship production of China Media Group (CMG). He stars opposite Gao Yuanyuan in a more down-to-earth role than the image he is known for.
Jing Boran is also reportedly set to join the mystery drama Regeneration 2 (新生2). The report has not been confirmed. Premiere dates for all of these projects are still pending announcements from their production teams.
Jing Boran previously said he wanted to try a story set in the Republic of China era (1912-1949). Online rumors also suggest he may star in a mystery or crime investigation drama. Neither has been confirmed, and the new project he is about to start has not been announced.
Editor’s note: Gu Yu and Jia You Qi Lang do not yet have official English titles, so the English titles shown are literal translations. The title Regeneration 2 follows the official title of the first series, Regeneration (新生).
