One of the key topics Jing Boran addressed was the role of fashion in shaping Luan Nian’s character. He explained that clothing is more than a visual accessory; it is a language that helps audiences understand a character’s personality even before they speak.

“Styling and clothing are the most direct visual language. Before a character speaks, the audience can already sense who they are,” Jing said.

He explained that colors, fabrics, cuts, and accessories can reflect a character’s profession as well as changes in their inner world. Every detail of Luan Nian’s appearance was therefore designed to support his characterization, including aspects of his personality that are not always expressed through dialogue.

“The colors they wear, the fabrics, cuts, and accessories—all these details reflect their profession and changes in their inner character,” Jing explained.

He also expressed hope that this approach would demonstrate how clothing can convey stories and emotions in a deeper way.

“Clothing is no longer just a design, but a person who can be seen and felt,” he added.

Jing Boran Wants to Portray a More Realistic Luan Nian

During the seminar, Jing Boran also discussed his approach to playing Luan Nian. He did not want to portray him as a flawless, stereotypical CEO who feels disconnected from real life.

Luan Nian has a commanding presence and a distinctive charm, but beneath his confident exterior, he also has weaknesses. He can even be awkward when it comes to expressing his feelings of love.

Jing aimed to portray the character’s sharp edges, vulnerability, and tenderness without making his emotions seem exaggerated. For him, acting is not about displaying every emotion openly to the audience. Instead, it requires holding back expressions while allowing the underlying emotions to remain present.

This approach also extends to the character’s wardrobe. Luan Nian’s appearance does more than communicate his status or profession; it also helps reveal his inner struggles and personal development.

Jing revealed that his encounter with the character came at the right time. After years of accumulating experience as an actor, he felt better prepared to portray a mature character with emotional complexity.

He also became more deeply involved in the creative process to present Luan Nian as a living, breathing person with flaws, inner conflicts, and room to grow, rather than a character defined by a handful of familiar labels.

Sun Qian Opens Up About Bringing a 10-Year Love Story to Life

Meanwhile, Sun Qian shared her experience playing Shang Zhitao and developing the character’s relationship with Luan Nian. One of the challenges she highlighted was bringing a love story spanning ten years to life within a relatively short filming schedule.

“Three months, yes. I deliberately used the word ‘long’ because we had just three months to bring a ten-year love story to life,” Sun Qian said.

According to her, the process required considerable effort. The actors had to get to know their characters, navigate the ups and downs of their relationship, deal with misunderstandings, and gradually lower their defenses.

Sun Qian said that she and her fellow cast members tried to give their characters their most sincere performances. She also emphasized that the process involved more than just the actors. The producers and screenwriters played an important role in building the world of the story.

For her, this collaboration is what makes the characters in a drama feel alive and leaves a lasting impression on audiences.

“I think this is the charm of long-form dramas. The director creates dreams, the screenwriter creates the world, and the actors allow the characters to live on in their own way,” Sun Qian said.

Her remarks highlighted her perspective on the creative process behind a drama. A compelling story requires collaboration among the director, screenwriters, actors, and the entire production team to ensure that the characters develop in a convincing way.

Sun Qian Thanks Fans for Their Love and Support

In addition to discussing her acting experience, Sun Qian expressed her gratitude to viewers who have supported The Early Spring. She said she was thankful for the opportunity to play Shang Zhitao, work alongside talented co-stars, and be part of a story that means so much to her.

She also appreciated the audience’s response to the drama, describing their support as an important part of the entire team’s journey.

“We’re grateful for your love. What makes us even happier is knowing how much you love us,” Sun Qian said.

To conclude her remarks, she shared a hopeful message that echoed the drama’s title. She expressed her wish that the happiness viewers experienced through Luan Nian and Shang Zhitao’s story would continue even after the drama ended.

“So, from now on, it won’t just be The Early Spring that’s bright. May every day from now on be bright and sunny,” she said.

The remarks by Jing Boran and Sun Qian at The Early Spring seminar highlighted two different aspects of bringing fictional characters to life. Jing focused on how fashion can serve as a visual language for conveying personality and hidden emotions, while Sun Qian emphasized the importance of sincere performances and collaboration among the creative team in creating a story that resonates with audiences.
