LayarHijau — Actor Jing Boran was the most anticipated guest at the opening of REM, a new luxury hotel at City of Dreams Macau. As the hotel’s Global Brand Ambassador, he was greeted by screaming fans from the moment the host called out his name.
The cheers were so loud that the interview questions were hard to hear. Jing Boran waved to the fans who had been waiting for him, several times and from a distance, which only made the screaming louder. Fans addressed him as “Director Luke,” a nod to his role in the drama The Early Spring (早春晴朗).

In the drama, Jing Boran plays Luan Nian, a creative director at an advertising agency. The role is said to have once again taken his career to new heights.
At the event, Jing Boran wore a black suit styled with a gradient red silk scarf, worn as an inner layer under the jacket and draped over his shoulders. He also pinned a jeweled brooch to his chest.
“I chose a suit with a silhouette I like, and paired it with red elements that match the vibrant energy of REM as today’s look,” Jing Boran said.
He described REM as “a brand-new sensory experience.” In his view, the hotel feels like a dreamworld, with every corner showing a strong personality while still blending together harmoniously.
Fellow brand ambassador Yuan Yuan Tan, a ballet dancer, said the hotel’s design carries strong dramatic tension. “I believe that without imagination, art cannot happen. Being at REM gives me the drive to create. This place gives me plenty of room to imagine, and I can also feel an interaction with the space,” Yuan Yuan Tan said.
Singer Miriam Yeung performed at the opening party. She said she was impressed by the surprises waiting around every corner of the hotel. “Open the door to your room and there are surprises everywhere. It made me feel a little emotional, in a relaxed, enjoyable way. What impressed me most was the lobby, which feels like a small cave, private and safe,” she said.
REM offers an immersive space that moves between reality and imagination. Its name comes from Rapid Eye Movement, the sleep stage marked by rapid eye movements. The hotel has 149 rooms, most of them suites with private butler service. The contrast between deep, intense reds and cool metallic tones, along with flowing interplays of light and shadow, is designed to stimulate guests’ senses.
