The founder of Chinese film and audiovisual media company Mediastorm announced that every employee would receive an iPhone Duo for free, including interns and newly hired staff.
And the perks do not stop there. The company will also cover the taxes associated with the employee gifts, meaning recipients will not have to pay additional tax out of their own pockets.
Every Employee Gets an iPhone Duo
Mediastorm, known for its content covering film, television and audiovisual production, made the announcement shortly after Apple’s event ended.
Several employees shared details of the company’s internal announcement on social media, revealing that the iPhone giveaway was being carried out according to what the company called its “old tradition.”
Each employee will receive one iPhone Duo. However, those who prefer another model can choose a different iPhone of equivalent value instead.
The policy also applies to interns and employees who have only recently joined the company.
In other words, employees do not need to have worked at Mediastorm for years to qualify. As long as they are working at the company on the day of the announcement, they are eligible for an iPhone.
The company will also take care of the taxes arising from the gifts.
That detail has made the perk even more enviable, as employees can receive their new iPhones without having to worry about paying additional taxes themselves.
The iPhone Giveaway Has Been a Five-Year Tradition
While this year’s gift is particularly eye-catching because it is the iPhone Duo, Mediastorm has actually been giving its employees the latest iPhones for five consecutive years.
The tradition began in 2022, when employees received the iPhone 14 Pro.
In 2023, the company handed out the iPhone 15 Pro, followed by the iPhone 16 Pro in 2024.
Last year, employees received the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Now, in 2026, the company has taken the tradition a step further with the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
According to reports from Taiwanese media, Taisounds, the 2TB version of the iPhone Duo is priced at NT$118,900, which is roughly equivalent to US$3,700.
That makes the company’s decision to give one to every employee particularly generous, especially considering that interns are included in the giveaway.
Who Is Mediastorm Founder Tim?
Mediastorm was founded in 2014 by Pan Tianhong, better known as Tim.
The China-based media account focuses on film, television, video production and other audiovisual content. It has since grown into a major creator brand across several Chinese social media platforms.
Mediastorm has also received several awards from Bilibili, including a spot among the platform’s Top 100 UP creators in 2024, the Most Popular UP Creator award in 2023, and an award for diversity and innovation in 2022.
As of September 10, 2026, Mediastorm had approximately 12.025 million followers on Bilibili, 6.693 million on Douyin, and 1.674 million on Weibo.
