Despite ranking second, The Early Spring was the only romance drama to make the top five Chinese dramas with the highest daily viewership figures of 2026 so far.
The Early Spring follows the relationship between Luan Nian, played by Jing Boran, and Shang Zhi Tao, played by Sun Qian. Luan Nian is a sharp-tongued director, while Shang Zhi Tao is a newcomer still finding her footing in the workplace.
The two become involved in a secret office romance. Their relationship is later complicated by separation and a reunion after they have already been together.
Jing Boran and Sun Qian’s natural and nuanced performances have earned praise from viewers. Their chemistry has also become one of the drama’s biggest strengths, helping The Early Spring attract audiences in China and overseas.
Tian Xiwei Is the Only Actress With Two Dramas in the Top Five
The ranking also highlights Tian Xiwei’s achievement as the only actress with two dramas in the top five.
Pursuit of Jade, which she co-stars in with Zhang Linghe, ranked first with 151 million daily views. The drama follows a romance between a young woman who works as a butcher and a nobleman who has fallen on hard times.
The success of Pursuit of Jade has made it one of the most popular Chinese dramas of 2026.
Tian Xiwei also appears on the list with the crime drama Born with Luck, which co-stars Wang Xiao. The drama ranked fifth with a peak daily viewership of 56.524 million.
In Born with Luck, Tian Xiwei plays an enthusiastic criminal police officer. Her performance, which combines a serious character with a touch of dry humor, has been well received by viewers.
Mystic Nine (2026) Takes Third Place
Mystic Nine (2026), starring William Chan and Joseph Zeng, took third place. The adventure drama recorded a peak daily viewership of 87.6073 million.
William Chan returned as Zhang Qishan, a character he previously played around 10 years ago. His return to the role successfully brought back memories for fans of the original series.
The relationship between William Chan and Joseph Zeng’s characters has also become one of the drama’s highlights. Initially wary and suspicious of each other, the two gradually build trust and eventually become partners willing to risk their lives for one another.
Meanwhile, the crime drama The Punishment 2, starring Huang Jingyu, Wang Chuanjun, and Liang Jie, ranked fourth with a peak daily viewership of 63.9831 million.
Although the drama brings back several cast members from the first season, The Punishment 2 features a new story and new characters. It explores the challenges and temptations faced by police officers as they carry out their duties.
Here are the five Chinese dramas with the highest daily viewership figures in 2026 so far:
