LayarHijau — A casual discussion on a radio show unexpectedly drew heavy public attention following an offhand remark by actress Han So-hee. While appearing as a guest on MBC Standard FM’s Sohn Suk-hee’s 12 O’Clock alongside veteran actor Choi Min-sik on September 17, a knee-jerk comment from Han So-hee sparked mixed reactions among netizens.
The incident began when host Sohn Suk-hee asked Choi Min-sik about his experience working with Han So-hee on the set of their film The Intern. The veteran actor humbly replied that rather than teaching anything, he found himself envious of his junior’s youthful energy. Sohn Suk-hee agreed, noting that from their perspective, the vigor of the younger generation is indeed enviable.

Upon hearing the conversation touching on age differences, Han So-hee spontaneously quipped:
“Well, there is no set order when it comes to passing away.”
Referencing mortality in front of two senior figures caused a brief silence in the studio. Surprised by the comment, Sohn Suk-hee responded with awkward laughter, reminding her that such remarks should not be made. Realizing her slip of the tongue, Han So-hee immediately offered an apology on the spot.
While the tense atmosphere in the studio was quickly brushed off with laughter, the interview segment triggered intense debate once the recording circulated online.
A section of netizens criticized her lack of filter when conversing with senior industry figures. Comments such as “Even though she isn’t technically wrong, it might be better for her to limit interviews for her own good” and “The more she speaks, the more harm it causes her” received widespread backing. Others felt the joke crossed the line regarding basic etiquette toward seniors.
Conversely, many netizens came to Han So-hee’s defense. One user commented, “I still like Han So-hee because she is genuine, down-to-earth, and human. Besides, anyone can make a slip of the tongue.” Supporters argued that the public backlash was blown out of proportion, especially given that both Sohn Suk-hee and Choi Min-sik laughed it off during the broadcast.
During the same broadcast, Han So-hee also expressed deep respect for Choi Min-sik. She admitted that she had once arrogantly thought of herself as creating art, but watching Choi Min-sik made her realize what a true artist looks like.
Meanwhile, The Intern, starring Han So-hee and Choi Min-sik, officially premiered on September 16. The movie follows the workplace dynamic between Sun-woo (Han So-hee), a young CEO in the fashion industry, and Gi-ho (Choi Min-sik), a 37-year industry veteran who re-enters the workforce as a senior intern.
