LayarHijau — Just hours after the finale of the period drama Where the Mask Ends (嫁金钗) aired on November 3, 2026, the hashtag “Where the Mask Ends Season 2” landed on Weibo’s hot search list, which ranks the most talked-about topics on the Chinese social media platform. The drama stars Tian Xiwei as Wei Rao and Yan An as Lu Zhuo, and it has left many viewers in China hoping the story will continue.

Under the hashtag, a number of Chinese netizens said they aren’t ready to say goodbye to the characters. One Weibo user wrote that she still felt unsatisfied because the ending came too abruptly. “This story could easily run five more episodes. Is there really no season 2? I can’t bear to part with our beloved Wei Rao,” she wrote.

Another netizen shared the sentiment, saying the closing scene left plenty to talk about and asking whether there really won’t be a season 2.
That hope fits the direction of the final episode. With the situation in the palace changed, Wei Rao finds herself in a new position and faces the vassal kings alone, saying, “Everything will be all right, as long as I am alive.” For some viewers, the chapter that follows that moment feels worth telling.
Beyond the plot, the chemistry between the two leads is another reason viewers are asking for a continuation. One netizen said she loved the satisfying, spirited storyline, and praised Tian Xiwei and Yan An as a couple who dare to love and dare to hate, whom she supported from beginning to end. “Tian Xiwei and Yan An, please consider working together again,” she wrote, adding the season 2 hashtag.
As of this writing, the production team has not announced whether Where the Mask Ends will get a second season.
