LayarHijau – Jackie Chan has revealed that the action sequences in Spider-Man: Brand New Day were handled by the Jackie Chan Stunt Team, the legendary stunt crew that has worked alongside him for decades.
The martial arts icon shared the behind-the-scenes story while attending the Macau premiere of his latest film, The Shadow’s Edge (捕风追影), in late August 2025, when Spider-Man: Brand New Day was still in production.

Chan explained that after receiving the Leopard Career Award (Pardo alla Carriera) at the 78th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, he traveled to London for a meeting. During the trip, he also visited the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
At the time, the Marvel film had only recently begun filming in early August 2025. Chan said he stopped by to watch the Jackie Chan Stunt Team, which was serving as the film’s action director, rehearse its fight sequences.
“I went to London for a meeting and also visited the set. My Jackie Chan Stunt Team was working on Spider-Man. They’re the action directors for the film. I watched them rehearse, and the director became so nervous the moment he saw me. I wanted him to know that the whole team actually came from me,” Chan said with a laugh.
Although his stunt team played a key role behind the scenes, Chan himself did not appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. His visit was simply to see his longtime stunt team as they prepared the film’s action choreography.
Chan also recalled director Destin Daniel Cretton’s reaction when he arrived on set. According to the veteran actor, Cretton looked both surprised and nervous upon realizing that the crew responsible for the movie’s action sequences was the Jackie Chan Stunt Team.
Beyond discussing the Marvel production, Chan revealed that he hopes to return to filming in Hong Kong after spending more than a decade working primarily on projects overseas and in mainland China.
“If everything goes according to plan, one of my upcoming projects will bring the entire crew back to Hong Kong. I can’t reveal the title yet, but Michelle Yeoh will be part of it,” he said.
Chan also reflected on receiving the Leopard Career Award at the Locarno Film Festival, calling it a meaningful recognition of his 64-year career in the film industry.
He said audiences continue to remember classics such as Project A, Drunken Master, and Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow, adding that every injury he suffered while performing dangerous stunts was ultimately worth it because of the legacy those films have left behind.
