LayarHijau – Dylan Wang has finally spoken out after becoming the center of controversy surrounding the variety show The Inn 2026 (亲爱的·客栈2026). The actor admitted he felt uncomfortable during the program’s final award segment, which many viewers criticized for allegedly embarrassing and excluding him in front of the public.

The controversy began during the show’s closing award and evaluation session. While other cast members received positive titles such as “MVP Best Butler Award,” Dylan Wang was instead given an award called “You’re Just Dylan Wang.”

The segment quickly drew backlash online, especially after viewers noticed that Dylan Wang’s name had been turned into a Mandarin pun during the joke. The wordplay implied that he was “at the bottom” or the “lowest-ranked” person in the group, leading many netizens to criticize the joke as humiliating and disrespectful.

The atmosphere became even more awkward when Wu Zelin openly mentioned a group chat that did not include Dylan Wang. Visibly caught off guard, Dylan Wang questioned why he was not included in the chat. The moment later went viral on social media and fueled speculation that he had been intentionally left out by the others.

As the controversy continued to grow, older livestream clips featuring Shen Yue, Xu Zhisheng, and Dylan Wang from February also resurfaced online. During the livestream, the cast casually talked about several different group chats created throughout filming.

In the early hours of May 23, Dylan Wang finally addressed the controversy through a social media post.

“At first, I thought maybe I was being too sensitive. But after reading everyone’s analysis all day, I want to say that I really did feel uncomfortable at that moment,” he wrote.

The statement immediately attracted attention because Dylan Wang rarely speaks publicly about negative emotions or uncomfortable experiences.

Shortly afterward, Dylan Wang’s studio reposted his message along with a lengthy statement supporting him. The studio emphasized that Dylan had worked tirelessly throughout the production as the inn manager of the show.

According to the statement, Dylan Wang handled numerous responsibilities behind the scenes, including coordinating production matters, helping with technical issues, and looking after both staff and cast members during filming. However, much of that effort was barely reflected in the final broadcast.

The studio also defended Dylan Wang’s sensitivity, saying it should not be viewed as weakness.

“Being sensitive is not weakness. It is an instinctive awareness of atmosphere and personal boundaries,” the statement read.

Amid the growing backlash, Shen Yue eventually issued a public apology. She admitted that the title “You’re Just Dylan Wang” had originally been her idea.

According to Shen Yue, the joke was meant to encourage Dylan Wang to let go of the pressure of being the inn manager, relax, and just be himself again. However, she acknowledged that she failed to consider his feelings.

“I never intended to belittle any of my colleagues,” Shen Yue wrote.

She also denied rumors that an exclusive group chat had been created to intentionally leave Dylan Wang out. To clear up the misunderstanding, Shen Yue shared screenshots showing that one of the chats had actually been created to organize a private screening event for Dylan Wang’s new movie, while other group chats were related to dinners and production coordination.

At the end of her statement, Shen Yue apologized to Dylan Wang and everyone affected by the controversy. She also described the actor as an “all-around talented person” in her eyes.
