As the rumor gained traction, a blogger using the account name “Rong Er Juan” was accused of creating a derogatory entry specifically targeting Dylan Wang. The entry, which contained false information, quickly circulated across the internet and was said to have misled a large number of users who were unfamiliar with the facts of the case.

Dylan Wang’s studio moved quickly to take legal action. At around 5 p.m. on September 16, the studio posted a statement with Beijing’s Gaobeidian Police Station listed as its location, announcing that it had completed notarized evidence collection and had formally reported the matter to the police. The studio said it would pursue legal accountability against those responsible for creating and spreading the rumor.
In its statement, the studio said that some internet users had deliberately fabricated fake WeChat conversations involving Dylan Wang in recent days. The fabricated material was then circulated through private channels and various social media platforms in an effort to smear the actor and damage his reputation.
The studio stressed that the false information had seriously harmed Dylan Wang’s personal reputation and created a negative impact online. It later reposted a statement from Beijing Internet Police, making clear that it would not tolerate or compromise over the creation or spread of false information.
Blogger Issues Apology
After the controversy escalated and Dylan Wang’s studio announced its legal action, blogger “Rong Er Juan” published a lengthy apology. The blogger claimed that the entry had been created because of an operational mistake and a lack of familiarity with the platform’s rules, rather than as a deliberate attempt to smear Dylan Wang.
The apology nevertheless drew criticism from internet users, some of whom questioned its sincerity. The blogger also repeatedly misspelled Dylan Wang’s name in the apology, further fueling criticism surrounding the post.
Lawyer Explains Potential Legal Consequences
Fu Jian, director of Henan Zejin Law Firm, offered a legal analysis of the incident. He said that if the blogger did fabricate the chat records, invent false information about a celebrity suffering a medical accident and deliberately created an entry to spread the claims widely, such conduct could demonstrate clear malicious intent.
According to Fu Jian, such actions could seriously damage Dylan Wang’s public image and lower his social standing, potentially constituting an infringement of his right to reputation and defamation through the fabrication of false facts.
Fu Jian also said that such conduct could violate China’s Law on Penalties for Administration of Public Security. Depending on the circumstances, those responsible could face up to five days of detention or a fine of up to 500 yuan. In more serious cases, the penalty could increase to between five and 10 days of detention, along with a fine of up to 500 yuan.
He further explained that if defamatory information had been viewed more than 5,000 times or reposted more than 500 times, it could meet the threshold for criminal liability. Under such circumstances, Dylan Wang could pursue a private criminal prosecution in accordance with the law and seek accountability for alleged defamation.
Fu Jian emphasized that an apology issued after the fact would only constitute an attempt to remedy the consequences of the alleged misconduct. It would not automatically eliminate the legal responsibility arising from the conduct that had already occurred.
Medical Institution Denies Treating Dylan Wang
Meanwhile, a medical institution that was linked to the rumor also issued a statement denying any connection to the alleged incident.
The institution said that, after checking its records, the person referred to in the online claims had never received medical treatment at the facility and had no medical service relationship with the institution.
It also stated that it had not provided the medical procedure mentioned in the rumor and had no corresponding treatment or procedure records. The institution said that any online claims linking the alleged incident to its facility or medical staff were false.
The institution added that it had preserved evidence concerning the false information and reserved the right to pursue legal action against organizations or individuals responsible for creating and spreading it.
It also urged the public to assess information online carefully and refrain from believing or spreading rumors.
The controversy has now moved into the legal process, with Dylan Wang’s studio confirming that it has completed notarized evidence collection and reported the matter to police. The blogger accused of creating the entry has also issued an apology, while the medical institution named in connection with the rumor has denied any relationship with the alleged medical incident.
