LayarHijau – The controversy surrounding Dylan Wang on the variety show The Inn 2026 is now reportedly affecting his family’s food business in real life. According to the actor’s father, sales at their family-owned eatery have dropped significantly since the incident became one of the hottest topics on Chinese social media.

Chinese media reported that the family’s business, “Di Ba You Zha,” received a wave of negative reviews over the past two days. On May 26, Dylan Wang’s father spoke to Cover News and revealed that the controversy had seriously impacted their business.

He said sales had fallen by around 40 percent since the issue exploded online. According to his father, the slowdown affected business throughout the day, including during peak evening hours.

“Facing this situation now, I really don’t know what to do…” he said during the interview.

His comments quickly sparked discussion online, with many netizens pointing out that what started as a celebrity friendship dispute had now begun affecting the actor’s family as well.

Dylan Wang’s family business is known for selling Sichuan-style fried snacks and local street food dishes.

The controversy began during the finale of The Inn 2026. During the show’s closing award segment, Shen Yue and several guests presented Dylan Wang with a joking award that was originally intended as a lighthearted compliment about his genuine personality.

However, the atmosphere quickly turned awkward after the host accidentally added an extra word while reading the award title, making the phrase sound much harsher than intended.

The situation became even more uncomfortable after one line in the speech revealed that the group had a private chat without Dylan Wang in it. Cameras later captured the actor looking visibly surprised and uneasy.

After the episode aired, Dylan Wang shared a late-night post saying he only realized how uncomfortable the moment truly felt after reading viewers’ discussions and online analyses.

“I really did feel uncomfortable at the time,” he wrote.

His studio later released a statement emphasizing that everyone’s emotions and personal boundaries deserve respect.

The issue quickly went viral on Weibo. Many netizens defended Dylan Wang, arguing that jokes between friends can still cross the line and hurt someone’s feelings. Others, however, criticized him for turning what they viewed as a private friendship matter into a public controversy.

Past comments Dylan Wang made on other variety shows were also brought back into discussion. Some critics accused him of double standards, arguing that he had previously made harsh jokes about others but reacted strongly when he became the target himself.

Meanwhile, Shen Yue received widespread praise for quickly posting a public apology and explaining the context behind the incident. She also shared screenshots from work group chats to clarify the situation.

The controversy reportedly affected both stars’ social media popularity as well. Dylan Wang was said to have lost more than 200,000 followers, while Shen Yue reportedly gained around 450,000 followers after her calm response earned praise from netizens.

Dylan Wang and Shen Yue first rose to fame together through the 2018 remake of Meteor Garden, where they played Dao Ming Si and Shan Cai. Their close friendship over the years made the controversy especially shocking for longtime fans.
