LayarHijau — Chinese actor Lin Yi has drawn attention on Weibo over a moment at the end of W GALA, the annual gala of the Chinese edition of W magazine, held in Macau on November 1, 2026. According to a Weibo post that included a video from Sina Entertainment, Lin Yi greeted Liu Yifei first as the event wrapped up. Liu Yifei recognized him, turned around, and returned the greeting with a wave. As soon as she left, Lin Yi pulled Huang Minghao, who was standing nearby, into a dance and a hug.

“The video quality is blurry, but the smile is clear,” the post’s caption read. The caption also addressed Lin Yi’s drama character directly: “He Xi, you must have been so excited to see Huang Yimei in a wedding dress, right?” Earlier, Liu Yifei appeared at W GALA in a silvery white, bridal-style gown with a pearl veil, a bouquet of calla lilies, and long white gloves. The hashtags “Lin Yi’s reaction after greeting Liu Yifei” and “Lin Yi sees Liu Yifei in a wedding dress” have also been circulating.
Liu Yifei and Lin Yi previously acted together in The Tale of Rose, a Chinese drama that aired in June 2024 on CCTV-8 and Tencent Video. Liu Yifei played Huang Yimei, a woman from a scholarly family with a talent for the arts who later builds a business in art exhibition curation. Lin Yi played He Xi, a young pilot who becomes Huang Yimei’s flight instructor. The two characters grow attracted to each other.
Lin Yi’s admiration for Liu Yifei is nothing new. On the variety show All Out Action Season 3, he said Liu Yifei has been his idol since childhood. “She’s been my idol since I was a kid,” Lin Yi said. He has also recounted that during a dinner with the The Tale of Rose crew, he kept staring at Liu Yifei without realizing it. Liu Yifei called him out, “Hey, you’re looking at me, aren’t you?”
Huang Minghao himself discussed Lin Yi’s happiness on Happiness Lab, which streams on Youku, in 2024. He said Lin Yi brags about acting with Liu Yifei every day.
