LayarHijau – An old interview in which Jing Boran discussed on-set romance has resurfaced following the conclusion of The Early Spring (早春晴朗). The interview was recorded in 2022 for the variety show Friends Please Listen to Me 2 (朋友请听好2), in which Jing Boran was asked whether he had ever fallen in love with a co-star while filming a drama. His answer was straightforward: “No.”

The question came from Hong Kong actress Anita Yuen (袁詠儀), who asked Jing Boran whether he had ever developed feelings for a co-star while working on a production. Without hesitation, he said he had never experienced that.

When Anita Yuen followed up by asking how he dealt with intense emotions while filming romantic scenes, Jing Boran explained that feelings such as attraction and deep affection portrayed in a story belonged to the character. As an actor, he believed it was important to distinguish between the character he was playing and real life.

Jing Boran also emphasized the importance of maintaining a clear boundary between acting and reality. In his view, emotions that arise during a performance are not something an actor simply has to lose control over. Instead, actors need to understand where the boundary lies and recognize when an emotion belongs to the character and when it should be separated from their personal lives.

The comments have drawn renewed attention because they resurfaced after The Early Spring, in which Jing Boran played Luan Nian in an emotionally intense romance. In the drama, Luan Nian becomes involved in a complicated relationship with Shang Zhi Tao, played by Sun Qian.

The chemistry between Jing Boran and Sun Qian as Luan Nian and Shang Zhi Tao became a major talking point among viewers throughout the drama’s run. Even after the series ended, the two actors recreated several memorable moments from their characters during promotional activities.

At a fan event marking the conclusion of The Early Spring, Jing Boran and Sun Qian recreated one of Luan Nian and Shang Zhi Tao’s romantic moments, including the scene in which the characters hold hands. The moment once again prompted fans to discuss their chemistry.

However, their interactions took place within the context of promoting the drama. Once the event was over, Jing Boran and Sun Qian returned to their respective activities. The contrast between Luan Nian and Shang Zhi Tao’s emotionally intense relationship on screen and Jing Boran’s stance off screen has made his old interview particularly interesting to viewers.

The discussion has also brought renewed attention to the idea of “on-set romance,” referring to romantic feelings that develop between actors through the intensity of working closely together. In the entertainment industry, strong chemistry between two performers can sometimes lead audiences to wonder whether that closeness extends beyond the screen.

Jing Boran’s comments in the 2022 interview offer a clear explanation of his approach. He said that the feelings portrayed in a story belong to the character. As a result, while an actor may need to fully immerse themselves in the emotions of a romantic scene, that does not automatically mean those feelings carry over into real life.

That stance becomes particularly striking when contrasted with Luan Nian. In The Early Spring, Jing Boran portrays a man who develops deep feelings for Shang Zhi Tao. Off screen, however, he has explicitly said that he has never fallen in love with a co-star because of a role.

His comments have also revived discussions about the boundaries actors maintain during drama promotions. Actors can fully step into character for the cameras or recreate memorable scenes as part of promotional activities without those interactions necessarily reflecting their personal relationships.

Meanwhile, Jing Boran’s personal life has been linked for several years to supermodel Liu Wen. The two reportedly first became acquainted after working with the same brand in 2019. Their relationship attracted public attention in 2022 after they were photographed holding hands.

Since then, Jing Boran and Liu Wen have reportedly been seen spending time together and meeting each other’s families. Neither has officially announced their relationship to the public.

More recently, rumors have also circulated that Jing Boran and Liu Wen have registered their marriage. Neither has officially confirmed the reports, so claims about their marriage remain unverified.

As the 2022 interview continues to circulate following the conclusion of The Early Spring, attention has shifted beyond the romance between Luan Nian and Shang Zhi Tao to Jing Boran’s own views on on-set romance. For the actor, the intense emotions seen on screen belong to the character, while real life has its own boundaries.
