LayarHijau— A nine-year long wait has finally come to an end for fans of the legendary wuxia drama. On April 8, 2026, the highly anticipated sequel, Rebirth, officially premiered on Tencent and iQIYI platforms. This drama continues the epic tale from Princess Agents, a series that left a deep wound in viewers’ hearts when its lead character, Yuwen Yue, sank to the bottom of an ice lake to protect Chu Qiao. Rebirth arrives to answer that mystery with a more intense plot, replacing the original cast with young talents while maintaining the essence of unbreakable struggle and love amidst the chaos of war.
The first episode immediately exploded on social media with the most awaited iconic scene: the rescue of Yuwen Yue from the depths of the lake. The topic “Yuwen Yue Has Been Fished Out” quickly topped the hot search charts with views surpassing hundreds of millions. The dramatic atmosphere as the ice surface broke, the entanglement of water weeds, and the sight of a heavily wounded Yuwen Yue being saved touched the emotions of fans who had been waiting since 2017. “This moment truly erases the tightness in our chests that we’ve felt for the last nine years,” expressed one loyal fan through a comment on the streaming platform.

Despite featuring a new cast, Rebirth offers different character depth through a more mature narrative. Li Yunrui takes over the baton as Yuwen Yue, who now lives undercover under the name Zhuge Yue. After surviving death, he does not return to his old identity as a gentle noble young master, but instead chooses to fake his death and move in the shadows with a colder and more resilient personality. Li Yunrui reportedly underwent extreme physical preparation, including losing 7 kilograms to achieve a convincing “war-damaged” look for the dramatic rescue scenes.
Interestingly, the character of Chu Qiao is now played by Huangyang Tian Tian, who nine years ago actually played the young version of Chu Qiao in the original Princess Agents. This transformation is seen as a poetic form of growth for the actress and an emotional bridge for long-time viewers. Meanwhile, the position of Yan Xun, who has fallen into darkness, is filled by Zhang Kangle. Although the cast change sparked debate at the initial announcement, the production quality and the dedication of these young actors on a set reaching minus 20 degrees have begun to win over the public.
More than just satisfying nostalgia, Rebirth carries a deeper message of perseverance and redemption. Zhuge Yue no longer fights alone as a shadow guardian; he now stands shoulder to shoulder with Chu Qiao to face the world’s storms and protect their beliefs and the common people. The transformation from a scarred girl into a tough female general in Chu Qiao, combined with Zhuge Yue’s silent protection, creates an inspiring narrative. This theme of “rebirth from despair” becomes the new life force that keeps this story legacy relevant and powerful.
The success of Rebirth sets a new standard for drama sequels in the entertainment industry, which often get trapped in exploiting nostalgia without quality content. By combining old promises to viewers with bold story innovations, this drama proves that a work can evolve without losing its identity. “The dedication of the young actors in respecting this classic work is visible in every scene they perform,” said the producer responding to the audience’s enthusiasm. This success is expected to motivate other production houses to be more serious in developing sequels to classic intellectual properties with high artistic integrity.
