LayarHijau– Chinese actor Song Weilong drew attention after his street livestream in Singapore on January 23 ended prematurely due to network issues. During the broadcast, Song Weilong had planned to sing the popular song Ren Zhu (Hold On/忍住), but the livestream was forced to stop in less than three minutes as the connection became severely unstable.
Shortly after the livestream ended, Song Weilong explained the situation through Weibo, citing internet problems as the main cause of the interruption. As a follow-up, he uploaded several short videos on Douyin and Xiaohongshu, where he was seen singing a portion of Ren Zhu (Hold On/忍住) a cappella.
In the uploaded clips, Song Weilong repeatedly sang the same line from the song—a lyric that conveys the meaning of “holding back, holding back all the impulses within me.” He also joked that he “only remembered one line,” a remark that prompted reactions from fans and netizens.
Ren Zhu (Hold On/忍住) is originally performed by Taiwanese singer Show Lo (Luo Zhixiang) and is not an official OST of the drama Shine on Me (驕陽似我). Even so, the lyric chosen by Song Weilong was considered emotionally fitting by some viewers, particularly fans familiar with the drama’s storyline.
In Shine on Me, Song Weilong portrays Lin Yusen, a character known for being reserved, rational, and emotionally controlled. At the beginning of the story, his relationship with Nie Xiguang, played by Zhao Jinmai, involves moments of suppressed longing and unspoken feelings due to distance and circumstances. After they reunite, Lin Yusen becomes more direct and proactive in pursuing Nie Xiguang. Nevertheless, the theme of “holding back inner impulses” in Ren Zhu continues to remind viewers of Lin Yusen’s restrained and self-disciplined nature.
The brief lyric sung by Song Weilong became the main point of discussion among viewers. Some felt the moment recalled Lin Yusen’s character beyond the screen, bringing back memories of the emotional journey portrayed in the drama. Various comments, memes, and edited videos later appeared on social media, with some linking the short singing clip to emotional scenes from Shine on Me.
Although the livestream lasted only a short time, Song Weilong’s prompt response was generally well received. A single line from the song proved enough to remind some viewers of Shine on Me, even though the drama has long since concluded.
