While pursuing his studies, Zhang Linghe once served as a teaching assistant at an English learning camp. In that program, he took on the role of a “small group leader,” helping participants with their studies and daily activities. What caught netizens’ attention was the camp’s official introduction of him at the time, which described Zhang Linghe with the phrase “24K pure gold tall-rich-handsome,” a line that sounds like it came straight out of an idol drama.
Several netizens who had attended the same camp also shared their impressions of him. They described Zhang Linghe as serious and highly responsible. He was even said to regularly recommend suitable English reading materials to participants, reflecting his dedication and attentiveness as a teaching assistant.
Recently, one netizen shared an old photo of herself with Zhang Linghe from his days as a teaching assistant. She revealed that she had joined the English learning camp specifically because of him. Not only did she manage to take photos with Zhang Linghe, but a doll she gave him as a gift was also photographed by Zhang Linghe and shared on his social media at the time.
The netizen also mentioned receiving a handwritten completion certificate from Zhang Linghe. This small gesture became a cherished memory for her, especially since not long afterward, Zhang Linghe made his official debut and entered the entertainment industry as an actor.
As time passed, their relationship naturally changed. From being a student and a teaching assistant, the netizen is now a fan who continues to support Zhang Linghe as a public figure. She shared that she has left comments on his social media multiple times and even received direct replies from him, something she found deeply touching.
The story sparked various reactions online. Some netizens commented that imagining the distance changing from “someone close by” to “one among a vast sea of people” feels heartbreaking. However, the netizen responded with maturity, saying that if she ever gets the chance, she hopes to meet Zhang Linghe again in the right way.
“The best distance isn’t getting closer, but meeting in the right way,” she wrote.
For many, this story feels like a real-life campus drama. A brief encounter in youth that later turned into a beautiful memory, as a former “tutor” grew into a shining idol.
