LayarHijau– As the year comes to a close, Chinese streaming giant Tencent Video has unveiled its ranking of the most popular drama characters featured on the platform. The criteria are based on how quickly each character surpasses 100 million points in Tencent’s in-house popularity index.
According to the data released, the top five characters are Xiao Qiushui (played by Cheng Yi) from The Journey of Legend, Wei Yun (played by Ding Yuxi) from Fight for Love, Xu Yan (played by Zhao Lusi) from Love’s Ambition, Wei Shao (played by Liu Yuning) from The Prisoner of Beauty, and Nie Jiuluo (played by Dilraba Dilmurat) from Love on the Turquoise Land. Standing at 190 cm tall with broad shoulders and a slim waist, Liu Yuning is widely regarded as the perfect actor for the role. Wei Shao reached the 100-million milestone in only five days and eventually amassed a total popularity index of 400 million.

Xu Yan’s rise is one of the most gripping storylines this year. Raised without parental love, she pushes through hardship and becomes a famous TV host. Determined to change her destiny, she even forges her identity to marry into a wealthy family — ambitious and strategic, but driven by struggles viewers can empathize with.
The combination of her tragic backstory, beauty, sharp intelligence, and fashion-forward looks has made Xu Yan a standout female character. Zhao Lusi’s performance adds even more presence to the role. She reached 100 million popularity in just four days.
No. 2: Wei Yun – Ding Yuxi (Fight for Love)
As a teenager, Wei Yun witnesses the brutal slaughter of his father and brothers. To avenge them, he grows into a powerful general. Audiences follow his transformation closely — from cheerful and upbeat, to emotionally shattered, to unbreakably strong.
Though Ding Yuxi’s screen time is considered less than that of Victoria Song, the series’ female lead, Wei Yun broke the 100-million mark in only 21 hours. This shows just how loyal Ding Yuxi’s fanbase is. Unfortunately, the drama itself did not fare well critically, earning only a 5.3 rating on Douban.
No. 1: Xiao Qiushui – Cheng Yi (The Journey of Legend)
In this series, Cheng Yi takes on three roles: Xiao Qiushui, Xiao Mingming — an ordinary modern office worker — and Li Chenzhou, the antagonist. Xiao Qiushui is the primary protagonist, the heroic version of Xiao Mingming after he is transported into the world of a novel.
As the third son of the Lianhua Sword Sect leader, Xiao Qiushui possesses exceptional martial talent from a young age. After his family is massacred, he evolves from a reluctant modern guy into a fearless warrior leading the “Shenzhou Brotherhood” against invading forces.
Despite the drama sparking controversies — such as a leaked scene revealing a script lying beside him, and criticism over unclear diction — Cheng Yi’s action scenes continue to earn praise. His success in Mysterious Lotus Casebook last year also fueled tremendous hype. The mixture of admiration and backlash only pushed his popularity further.
Xiao Qiushui shattered records by surpassing the 100-million threshold in just 2 hours and 43 minutes, securing the No. 1 spot this year.
