LayarHijau — A clip from Lisa of BLACKPINK’s podcast interview trended on Weibo and sparked debate among Chinese netizens on October 30, 2026. In the interview, Lisa talked about a man who was courting her and refused to pay for a meal, which she regards as a red flag in a relationship.

Lisa shared the story as a guest on the podcast Therapuss with Jake Shane, hosted by Jake Shane. She said she once went to her favorite sushi restaurant with her mother and a friend, with the man who was pursuing her also at the table. In the story, Lisa jokingly asked whether he would pay for them.
“I went to a sushi place with my mom and one of my best friends. And it’s our favorite spot. And then I was just joking. I was like, oh are you going to pay for us? Are you gonna, you know, take care of the bill? He’s like, ha, no,” Lisa said.
Lisa said she had hoped he would politely decline, then quietly pay and surprise them. That did not happen, and she ended up paying the bill herself.
Lisa stressed that the money was not the issue. She said she simply wanted to see whether he would show consideration through his actions, especially with her mother at the table. She saw the moment as a small test during the courtship phase, and she put his curt answer in the red flag category.
On Weibo, Chinese netizens were divided. Some agreed with Lisa, saying that paying the bill is about sincerity, not money. Others argued that friends and dates should split the bill, and that refusing to pay does not mean a lack of interest. Many netizens also remarked that even a celebrity as big as Lisa cares about small gestures in romance.
As the clip went viral, some narratives on Weibo began to drift from the actual story. One of them described the man in the story as Lisa’s ex-boyfriend. In the interview material in circulation, he is described as someone who was pursuing Lisa, and his identity is not disclosed.
Similar reactions appeared on international social media. Most commenters said his curt reply deserved to be called a red flag, while a small minority saw it as an ordinary miscommunication. The full episode is reportedly available on Netflix and Spotify.
