LayarHijau –The fantasy drama The Immortal Ascension, starring Yang Yang, officially aired its finale on August 12. In the climactic closing battle, Han Li (Yang Yang) faces off against Wang Chan, the young master of the Ghost Spirit Sect, in order to save Nangong Wan (Jin Chen). The rescue drains his powers completely, leaving him unable to match his opponent.

⚠️ Spoiler Alert: This article contains details from the ending of The Immortal Ascension.

With no way out, Han Li activates a teleportation array and escapes to a new world called the Chaos Star Sea. The scene sent fans into a frenzy, especially when the words “Season 1 End” appeared on screen — widely seen as a strong hint at a second season. In the original novel, Han Li’s journey to the Chaos Star Sea coincides with the death of Mo Caihuan (Zhao Qing), his first love, who is later reincarnated as Zi Ling. The two meet again in this realm and become partners in a storyline full of intrigue and action.

The first season of the TV adaptation only covers the “Human Realm” arc — the first of three major story parts, followed by the “Immortal Realm” and “Spirit Realm.” After leaving his original world, Han Li will no longer encounter his early companions. However, rumors suggest Yang Yang will remain the lead, with much of the main cast expected to return.

Interestingly, reports claim Yang Yang has already signed on for a trilogy of The Immortal Ascension. Still, budget remains a major factor. The first season had a massive production cost of NT$800 million, with only half of the scenes using special effects. The second season is expected to feature nearly nonstop battle sequences requiring heavy CGI, meaning the production team will need to be confident in the first season’s performance before moving forward. With strong viewership and growing audience demand, hopes for a Season 2 are higher than ever.
