Outstanding Asian Star is one of the awards presented at the Seoul International Drama Awards 2026 through a fan voting process. The category features actors and actresses from several Asian countries, including China, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
China’s lineup for the category featured several major stars. Dilraba Dilmurat was nominated for three dramas: Love Beyond the Grave, which aired on Youku, Sword Rose from Tencent Video.
Zhao Lusi was also nominated for Love’s Ambition, which aired on Tencent Video. Yang Yang represented The Immortal Ascension, which was released on Youku.
Zhang Linghe rounded out the Chinese lineup with Pursuit of Jade. All four are prominent Chinese stars with substantial fan bases in China and overseas.
Among the Chinese candidates, Yang Yang ultimately became one of the recipients of the 2026 Outstanding Asian Star award, representing China with The Immortal Ascension.
Six other stars also received the Outstanding Asian Star award in 2026: JAEMIN and JISOO from South Korea, Jin Akanishi from Japan, Paulo Avelino from the Philippines, Rebecca Patricia Armstrong from Thailand, and Gladys Bay from Singapore.
The recognition comes as The Immortal Ascension continues to draw attention from viewers. The drama is adapted from Wang Yu’s novel Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan and stars Yang Yang as Han Li.
In his acceptance message, Yang Yang emphasized not only the personal significance of the award but also the support he has received from fans throughout the drama’s run. He specifically thanked those who have continued to support him throughout his career.
The 2026 Seoul International Drama Awards were held on October 8 at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul. The 21st edition of the awards featured works from countries and regions around the world, with Outstanding Asian Star among the categories highlighting the popularity of Asian drama stars among international audiences.
