LayarHijau – Galaxy Cool Entertainment has come under fire once again after producer Gan Wei went live on August 6 to expose a shocking behind-the-scenes decision involving actress Zhao Lusi.
In her livestream, Gan revealed that Galaxy Cool had unilaterally rejected a drama adaptation based on a novel by renowned author Hong Jiu—without informing Zhao Lusi. The project was reportedly designed with Zhao in mind as the lead actress. To accommodate her, the production team had even offered to move filming to Chengdu so she could stay close to home—an offer that showed genuine goodwill. Hong Jiu is best known for workplace romance stories and has built a strong reputation through works such as Love Has Fireworks, the film My Best Friend’s Wedding, and Master of My Own, all of which were successfully adapted for screen and are considered high-quality IPs. Despite this, Galaxy Cool turned down the project outright, with no discussion, ultimately costing Zhao Lusi a valuable opportunity.
Gan Wei is the founder of LeYoung Pictures and is known for producing a number of hit dramas. Her name rose to prominence as one of the producers of the viral 2015 web drama Go Princess Go, which became a major streaming success and helped define a new wave of xianxia parody web series. She also served as executive producer for the 2023 romantic fantasy comedy The Princess and the Werewolf, which aired on Youku. In addition to her work in drama, Gan was also involved in producing films such as The Girls (2012) and The Girls 2 (2013).
Shortly after Gan’s revelations, actress and producer Zhang Zhixi also posted her own criticism of the agency. Known not only for her acting but also as the founder of production company Bentu Pictures (奔兔影业), Zhang claimed her team had originally hoped to cast Zhao Lusi in the drama When Destiny Brings the Demon. That plan fell through, but the situation escalated when the drama entered its promotional phase.
According to Zhang, Galaxy Cool altered Bentu Pictures’ credit on the drama’s official poster from “producer” to “co-producer,” which she said violated their signed contract. “On the poster, they changed our role from ‘producer’ to ‘co-producer.’ Then they blamed the platform. That’s just wrong. Respect the contract and fix it,” she wrote on social media.
In response, Galaxy Cool issued a legal warning letter to Zhang Zhixi on August 6, accusing her of spreading false and misleading information. The agency demanded that she immediately stop making such statements, threatening legal action if she failed to comply.
Zhang fired back with a pointed response: “The contract is clear. Why act like you didn’t read it? Fine, see you in court!”
Not long after, Galaxy Cool released an official statement. The agency claimed that their cooperation with Bentu Pictures was limited only to acquiring the adaptation rights of the novel the drama was based on. “Beyond that, there was no further collaboration,” they wrote. Galaxy Cool also emphasized that all decisions regarding marketing and distribution were handled solely by them, not by Bentu.
This latest controversy adds to a growing list of issues surrounding Galaxy Cool Entertainment, which has already been under intense public scrutiny due to their ongoing conflict with Zhao Lusi.

Who is Galaxy Cool under that they can be so shady? Because whatever little information I can find on them though online search, I don’t even see any big artist under them. For them to have an international star like Zhao Lusi under them, that can bring them so much positive news. I don’t understand what their problem is, has to be someone in the backend making these calls.
