LayarHijau – Tensions continue to mount behind the scenes of the Chinese drama industry, with two high-profile actresses calling out the same company: Galaxy Cool Entertainment. Following Zhao Lusi’s public fallout with her agency, actress and producer Zhang Zhixi has now also criticized the company—this time over the drama When Destiny Brings the Demon (献鱼).
Earlier this month, Zhao Lusi voiced her dissatisfaction with Galaxy Cool Entertainment, her own management agency. During a livestream, the 26-year-old actress hinted at financial irregularities and breaches of contract, though she stopped short of disclosing exact details. She went as far as declaring “I quit!” The dispute has sparked wider concerns about how Galaxy Cool handles its artists and productions.
Soon after, Zhang Zhixi—who is not only an actress but also the founder and owner of Bentu Pictures (奔兔影业)—added fuel to the fire. In a social media post, she revealed that Bentu Pictures initially planned to cast Zhao Lusi as the lead in When Destiny Brings the Demon, but the plan eventually fell through. The real issue, however, emerged during the drama’s promotional phase.
Zhang pointed out that in official materials such as the drama’s poster, Bentu Pictures was downgraded from “producer” to merely “co-producer”, a move she claimed was a breach of contract. “They changed our title from ‘producer’ to ‘co-producer’ on the poster. Then they even shifted the blame onto the platform. Isn’t that inappropriate? Please respect the contract and fix this,” she wrote.
Galaxy Cool Entertainment responded swiftly. On August 6, they issued a lawyer’s letter to Zhang Zhixi, accusing her of spreading false and misleading information. They demanded that she cease making public statements and repair the damage caused, or face legal action.

Zhang fired back with a firm response: “The contract is clear. Why pretend not to see what’s written in it? Fine—see you in court!”
In a formal statement, Galaxy Cool clarified that their partnership with Bentu Pictures was limited solely to acquiring the copyright of the original novel the drama is based on. “Beyond the copyright acquisition, there were no further agreed terms of cooperation,” the company stated. They emphasized that all decisions regarding the drama’s promotion and distribution fall under their authority, not Bentu’s.
With two major actresses publicly challenging Galaxy Cool Entertainment—each in their own way—the company’s business practices are now under intense scrutiny. When Destiny Brings the Demon has yet to premiere, but the off-screen drama is already creating waves across the industry.
