LayarHijau.com—Chinese actress Zhao Lusi, best known for her breakout role as the lovable student in Hidden Love (偷偷藏不住), has officially confirmed her return to acting. During a cosmetics brand livestream event in Shanghai on April 18, Zhao announced that she will be heading back to filming in the upcoming summer period (June–August) this year. The announcement marks a major update for the actress following a 16-month hiatus after her previous drama project was put on hold at the end of 2024.

This decision also signals the end of a long wait for fans. Since the production of Lovers (恋人) was suspended in 2024, Zhao has taken a more selective approach to new projects while focusing on her physical and mental recovery. “I feel much better during summer,” she said during the livestream, emphasizing that she does not want to rush back to set before she is fully ready.
During the same session, Zhao also offered a hint about the direction of her upcoming project. She revealed that her next drama will focus on “the mindset and lifestyle of modern women,” marking a shift away from the sweet romance genre that initially defined much of her popularity. The project is expected to take on a more realistic, everyday-life perspective.

Previously, in a February 2026 livestream, Zhao also spoke candidly about her concerns regarding rushing back to work. “If I rush onto set and end up causing production issues, I might never act again for the rest of my life,” she said, reflecting her more careful and grounded approach toward her career.
During her hiatus, Zhao focused on recovery after experiencing anxiety that previously forced her to step back from filming Lovers. She has since stated that she better understands her physical limits and now chooses to work during periods when she feels emotionally stable, with summer (June–August) being the most suitable time for her return.
Meanwhile, various rumors about her upcoming projects have been circulating on social media. However, Zhao Lusi’s fandom account on Weibo has issued a clarification, firmly denying several reports suggesting the actress’s involvement in multiple widely discussed drama projects.
Following this statement, speculation surrounding a previously mentioned S+ fantasy project has gradually cooled down. At present, Zhao Lusi is focused on preparing her return to filming in the upcoming summer period (June–August), with a new project expected to highlight the lives and mindsets of modern women.
On the other hand, Zhao Lusi also gave a slight hint that her upcoming work might integrate brand elements more organically into the storyline starting from the first episode, an innovation anticipated by industry observers and advertisers.
Beyond acting, Zhao Lusi is also preparing to expand into music. She is scheduled to hold a concert in Bangkok on May 9, where she will perform five unreleased songs. When asked about balancing her schedule, she simply said, “Staying in a good condition takes time to build slowly.”
