LayarHijau – Comments made by Liu Yuning about artificial intelligence (AI) two months ago are gaining renewed attention online. His remarks have gone viral again in the wake of the controversy surrounding iQIYI’s “AI artist” initiative.
In the earlier interview, Liu Yuning shared that he is already quite familiar with using AI in creative work. “I use a lot of AI tools myself, including for music and film. I even created an AI-based animated comic project in just one day,” he said.

He also emphasized that AI is an unavoidable trend. “Whether it will take people’s jobs or not is another matter. This is the direction things are heading, and it can’t be stopped. We can’t keep holding on to old ways,” he added.
What has drawn the most attention now is his stance on future acting projects. Liu Yuning admitted that he is starting to think more carefully about the kind of roles he takes on, especially those that could easily be replaced by AI.
“If I take on new drama projects going forward, I might choose to avoid parts that AI can handle. I need to think about what AI is capable of and whether the work I do could be replaced by it,” he said.
His comments feel especially relevant after Gong Yu, CEO of iQIYI, announced on April 20, 2026, that the platform has developed its own AI system and signed cooperation agreements with more than 100 artists. The initiative would allow artists’ facial data and on-screen likeness to be used in AI-generated content.
The list reportedly includes names such as Chen Zheyuan, Cheng Lei, Zeng Shunxi, Jiang Long, and Ma Su.
However, the announcement quickly sparked pushback. Representatives for Chen Zheyuan, Wang Churan, Zhang Ruoyun, and Li Yitong denied that their clients had given any form of consent for their data to be used in AI-related projects.
In response, iQIYI clarified that its “AI artist database” only reflects a willingness to collaborate, not blanket authorization to freely use artists’ data without detailed consent.
Amid the ongoing debate, Liu Yuning’s earlier remarks are now being seen in a new light. What once sounded like a personal reflection now resonates more broadly, highlighting how AI is no longer just a trend but a major shift that is beginning to reshape creative work and decision-making in the entertainment industry.
