LayarHijau – The historical drama Pursuit of Jade has become a major talking point, thanks to the captivating performances of Tian Xiwei and Zhang Linghe. Blending period storytelling with romance, the series follows the relationship between a tough female butcher and a seemingly frail marquis who is actually full of schemes to protect his country.
Tian Xiwei, who previously won hearts as the adorable Huang Chengzi in Lovely Us, once again proves her strength as a talented young actress. Through her role in Pursuit of Jade, she further solidifies her place as one of the brightest stars of her generation, presenting a more mature image while still maintaining her signature sweetness.

A Campus Beauty Who Turned Heads Early On
Born in 1997, Tian Xiwei’s beauty was evident long before she dominated the screen. At just 16, she passed the highly competitive entrance exam for the Shanghai Theatre Academy and quickly became a hot topic online due to her big eyes and sweet smile, which many said resembled legendary actress Zhao Wei.
Thanks to her charm, she earned the title of campus beauty. Even veteran actor Huang Xiaoming once followed her on social media after being impressed by her potential. Reacting to the attention, Tian Xiwei jokingly said, “Let’s not talk about that anymore—I felt so shocked back then that I had to drink eighty bottles of alcohol just to calm down,” she said with a laugh.
A Surprisingly Tall Figure Behind Her Cute Image
Despite her cute appearance and “sweet girl” image, many fans are surprised to learn that Tian Xiwei stands at 168 cm. Her on-screen presence often makes her look petite, but in reality, she has long, well-proportioned legs.
This became evident in New Life Begins, where she starred alongside Bai Jingting, who is 183 cm tall. In one back-hug scene, Tian Xiwei’s face reached around his shoulder level, showing that she is taller than many viewers assume.
She also drew attention at a formal event when she wore a low-cut gown, highlighting her more mature side and well-balanced figure—creating a striking contrast with her usual innocent image.
Career Journey and Breakthrough Success
Tian Xiwei began her acting career in 2018 with Waiting for You in a Long Time. However, she truly rose to fame after starring in Lovely Us in 2020. The youth drama received high ratings on Douban, thanks to its warm storytelling and Tian Xiwei’s natural portrayal of a cheerful high school girl.
This success led to more popular projects, including My True Friend, Be My Cat, and Ms. Cupid in Love. Her breakthrough peak came in 2022 with New Life Begins, which achieved remarkable popularity within just seven days of release, outperforming major competitors like The Twenty-Eight Law of Love and Lighter and Princess during the same period.
Honest and Fearless in Facing Rumors
Behind her success, Tian Xiwei is known for her honesty and straightforward personality, especially when dealing with negative rumors about her past. When speculation surfaced claiming she was a troubled student who smoked and got into fights, she did not avoid the issue.
Instead, she addressed it directly on social media, clarifying that while she had a rebellious side in her youth, she never broke the law or bullied others. “I did many rebellious things when I was young and full of energy, but I never did anything illegal, immoral, or intentionally harmful to others, so I don’t feel the need to apologize,” she wrote firmly.
Her transparency earned widespread respect from fans, who appreciated her sincerity.
Dating Rumors and Strong Chemistry with Zhang Linghe
Tian Xiwei’s personal life has also attracted public attention, including past dating rumors with Qu Chuxiao, the star of Shining for One Thing. The two were once rumored to have stayed at the same hotel, though no official confirmation was ever made.
Now, the spotlight has shifted to her strong on-screen chemistry with Zhang Linghe in Pursuit of Jade. Viewers have praised their deeply engaging interactions, from sweet moments in their contract marriage storyline to emotionally intense scenes.
The popularity of this on-screen pairing is reflected in the rapid growth of their fan accounts on social media, making them one of the most talked-about drama couples of the year, especially following the series’ conclusion.
