LayarHijau – Zhao Lusi has once again drawn public attention following the success of Love’s Ambition (许我耀眼). After nearly a year without taking on a new drama project, her next move has been highly anticipated by fans and industry observers alike.
Previously, she was rumored to star in Bai Yaopu, reportedly directed by Guo Jingming, as well as the costume drama Gong Yu (Inverted Fate). However, on January 24, 2026, Zhao Lusi’s team officially denied her involvement in Bai Yaopu, clarifying that the information was inaccurate. As for Gong Yu, no further confirmation was ever given.

Looking back, Yan San He (宴三合 / The Banquet of the Three Kingdoms) was initially rumored to be a reunion project between Liu Yifei and Chen Xiao. The speculation generated excitement, as the two previously starred together in a popular drama and were praised for their on-screen chemistry. However, no official announcement was ever made with that casting lineup.
On January 2, 2026, the direction of the rumor shifted. Several entertainment accounts began reporting that Zhao Lusi was being considered for the female lead role, while Liu Yuning was said to have been chosen as the second male lead. If confirmed, this would mark the third collaboration between Zhao Lusi and Liu Yuning.
From February 25 through today, February 27, multiple entertainment accounts on Weibo have once again discussed the Yan San He rumor, with details remaining consistent: Zhao Lusi as the strong candidate for the female lead and Liu Yuning as the second male lead, while the main male lead has yet to be finalized.
The project is reportedly helmed by director Sun Hao, known for the hit drama Joy of Life (庆余年). The script is adapted from the novel Xie Jia De Duan Ming Gui Chang Ming Bai Sui Le by Yi Ran.
Zhao Lusi was also previously involved in the drama Almost Lover (恋人) alongside Peng Guanying, who is known for his role in The Tale of Rose (玫瑰的故事). The drama was directed by Deng Ke, who previously found success with The Legend of Shen Li (与凤行).
However, Almost Lover reportedly faced serious production issues due to inconsistent script changes on set. The situation escalated when director Deng Ke was rumored to have left the project. The turmoil allegedly affected Zhao Lusi’s health, and she was reported to have fallen ill. Eventually, the production team was disbanded, and there were reports that the drama would only be released in a shortened 10-episode format.
Following that experience, Zhao Lusi has become much more selective in choosing scripts. After joining a new management team, she emphasized the importance of script quality before committing to return to filming.
“I really want to return to filming, but the process of refining a script is not simple. If I rush into a project that later encounters serious problems midway, I might lose my passion for acting forever. That’s why I’m being very cautious right now.”

Yan San He is reportedly considered one of the most well-developed scripts at the moment. Previously, Liu Yifei was also linked to the female lead role in the project. However, due to the unresolved decision regarding the male lead, she was said not to have continued with the project. Given her reputation for only accepting fully completed scripts, this has fueled further discussion about the project’s development status.
The story of Yan San He centers on a mysterious girl who possesses the ability to interact with the spirit world. She helps restless souls release their lingering obsessions. With each mystery she solves, fragments of her own buried past gradually come to light, ultimately leading to a larger conspiracy tied to her family secrets.
As of now, no official confirmation has been released by the production team or Zhao Lusi’s management. Nevertheless, the ongoing discussions since early January through late February suggest that Yan San He remains one of the most talked-about upcoming drama projects of early 2026.
