The casting of Zhang Linghe and Lu Yuxiao as the main pair had sparked some debate before filming began. However, both actors already have strong popularity and established fan bases. As their second project together, Revenge is expected to generate plenty of discussion when it eventually airs.
Besides Zhang Linghe and Lu Yuxiao, the drama also features a number of well-known actors and actresses, including Wang Hongyi, Sun Zhenni, Liu Mengrui, Li Qing, He Landou, Gao Hanyu, Liang Jie, and An Yuexi.
Among the cast, particular attention has been drawn to six actresses taking on supporting roles: Sun Zhenni, Liu Mengrui, He Landou, Liang Jie, An Yuexi, and Huang Mengying.
Lu Yuxiao Plays Su Luowei
In Revenge, Lu Yuxiao plays the female lead Su Luowei, a powerful woman who fights her way out of a dangerous political struggle.
The role also gives Lu Yuxiao an opportunity to showcase another side of her acting. The actress is known for taking on characters with different personalities and styles, often making her appearance feel distinct from one drama to another.
Her styling in Revenge also appears more mature and imposing. One of the revealed looks features an elegant black outfit that gives Su Luowei a commanding presence, while a red look brings a brighter, more youthful quality without losing the character’s powerful aura.
Sun Zhenni as Qiu Si
Sun Zhenni will play Qiu Si. Before joining Revenge, she recently appeared in the historical drama Pull Strings (师兄太稳健), starring alongside Ao Ruipeng.
In that drama, Sun Zhenni played Yunxiao Xianzi. Although Pull Strings did not attract as much attention as some other popular Chinese dramas, her portrayal of the fairy-like character stood out for its visual appeal.
Revenge also marks a new experience for Sun Zhenni, as it is her first historical political drama.
Liu Mengrui as Yu Suiyun
Liu Mengrui will play Yu Suiyun. Born in 2002, the young actress has already built an impressive list of memorable roles.
She first gained attention through Love and Redemption (琉璃), in which she played Yu’er, a character who is half-human and half-demon.
Liu Mengrui later appeared as Princess Zhaoling in Mysterious Lotus Casebook (莲花楼), Song Mingzhu in The Journey of Legend (赴山海), Xiao Ying in Love’s Ambition (凤凰台上), and Baili Geling in The Eternal Fragrance (千香).
Her previous roles have allowed her to portray characters with very different personalities. In Revenge, she will take on another new role as Yu Suiyun.
He Landou as Song Zhiyu
He Landou has been cast as Song Zhiyu. She previously attracted attention for her performance in A Journey to Love (一念关山).
In the drama, He Landou played a character who disguised herself as a man, appearing as a handsome and youthful boy. When she returned to her female identity, the character took on the image of an innocent and cheerful young princess.
Over the past few years, He Landou has also appeared in various types of productions, ranging from television dramas to short dramas and films.
Her recent credits include the short dramas The Kitchen Maid Causes Trouble in the Marquis’ Residence (烧火丫头闹侯府) and Nine Branch Lamp (九枝灯), as well as the film I Want to Stay by Your Side (我想留在你身边).
Liang Jie as Song Yaofeng
Liang Jie is another notable addition to the cast, taking on the supporting role of Song Yaofeng.
The actress became widely known after starring in The Eternal Love (双世宠妃), which helped establish her popularity among Chinese drama viewers.
She later appeared in several well-known dramas, including Mr. Honesty (不说谎恋人), The Day of Becoming You (变成你的那一天), Side Story of Fox Volant (飞狐外传), and The White Olive Tree (白色橄榄树).
Her participation in Revenge has therefore become one of the notable highlights of the drama’s supporting cast.
An Yuexi Plays Qiu Fei and Feng Yanluo
An Yuexi will portray two characters in Revenge: Qiu Fei and Feng Yanluo.
Although she has often appeared in supporting roles, An Yuexi has played several characters that became widely recognized. Her credits include Tangbao in The Journey of Flower (花千骨), Qi Baicao in The Whirlwind Girl (旋风少女), Shaoxin in Eternal Love (三生三世十里桃花), and Dongfang Qinlan in Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red-Moon Pact (狐妖小红娘·月红篇).
In 2026, An Yuexi also appeared as Hua Zi in the mystery fantasy drama Mystic Nine (九门).
Huang Mengying as Zhang Buyun
The sixth actress is Huang Mengying, who will play Zhang Buyun.
Huang Mengying is known for her striking appearance and versatility, having portrayed characters across a variety of genres. One of her best-known roles is Su Jin in Eternal Love.
Su Jin was an unpopular character because of her actions and personality, but Huang Mengying’s elegant and glamorous appearance in the role still left a strong impression on viewers.
She later played Jin Meiniang in A Journey to Love, portraying a character with a more alluring and seductive presence.
Although the full styling for Revenge has yet to be revealed, Huang Mengying’s casting adds another interesting name to the drama’s female ensemble.
With filming now officially underway and the cast lineup confirmed, Revenge has entered production with Zhang Linghe and Lu Yuxiao leading a large ensemble cast. The addition of six notable actresses in supporting roles has also made the drama’s female cast one of its most talked-about aspects ahead of its eventual release.
