LayarHijau – Wagner Moura is open to reprising his role as Jason Delgado in a potential The Last House 2, although Netflix has not officially announced a sequel to the sci-fi thriller.
Speaking with ScreenRant (via Mandatory), Moura reflected on the film’s unexpected ending and Jason’s decision to spare the mysterious creature instead of killing it. He suggested that the moment was an important turning point for his character, particularly because Jason finally chose to listen to his daughter, Ruth.
Throughout the film, Ruth repeatedly tries to warn her father about what is happening around them. Jason, however, often dismisses her concerns, reflecting what Moura described as the tendency of adults to assume they know better than their children.
For Moura, Ruth had understood the situation correctly from the beginning. Jason’s choice to listen to her and show mercy therefore represented more than simply sparing the creature. It showed that he had finally learned to take his daughter’s words seriously.
That decision also becomes crucial to the film’s ending. Rather than killing the creature, Jason lets it live, and the choice ultimately helps the family escape their home.
The Last House follows Jason, Ann and their children as they struggle to survive after a mysterious phenomenon leaves them trapped inside their house with no apparent way out. The Netflix film stars Wagner Moura alongside Greta Lee, Riley Chung, Emma Ho, Noah Alexander Sosnowski and Gabriel Barbosa. The movie was released on Netflix on August 7, 2026.
The story takes another unexpected turn after the family finally manages to leave their home. They set out by boat and use a radio to send a distress call, hoping to find out whether anyone else survived.
Eventually, someone responds.
The mysterious voice simply says, “hello.”
That brief response leaves the film with a major unanswered question: who else survived, and what happened to the world beyond the family’s isolated home? The ending consequently leaves enough room for the story to continue in a potential sequel.
Moura, however, has made no claim that a second film is currently in development. The actor has indicated that he does not know whether another installment will happen, but he would be willing to return as Jason if the opportunity arises.
For now, Netflix has yet to officially confirm The Last House 2. The first film, meanwhile, continues to be available for streaming on Netflix and has quickly attracted attention following its release, including reaching the top of Netflix’s global movie chart.
