LayarHijau – Chinese drama Overdo (这一秒过火) has sparked another viral discussion, this time thanks to the debut of Zhang Linghe’s on-screen son.
As the story progresses, Le’an, the son of Zhang Linghe’s character, finally makes his first appearance. Played by child actor Ni Yuechen (倪悦宸), the young star immediately became a trending topic online, with viewers amazed by how strikingly similar he looks to Zhang Linghe.

Since its premiere, Overdo, starring Zhang Linghe and Wang Churan, has remained one of the hottest Chinese dramas. Along with its rising popularity, the Republican-era romance has captivated audiences with its visually stunning leads and emotionally intense storyline.
In the drama, Wang Churan plays Ren Susu, who becomes pregnant with Murong Qingyi’s child after enduring a series of misunderstandings. To protect her unborn baby, she hides away in a remote village in Guizhou, where she eventually gives birth to a son named Le’an and raises him alone for six years.
When Le’an finally appeared on screen, however, it was Ni Yuechen who stole the spotlight. Viewers were quick to point out that the child actor shares Zhang Linghe’s signature narrow eyes, sharp nose, and calm, elegant aura. Even his facial expressions and smile reminded many fans of the actor.
Some viewers even admitted they initially thought the production team had digitally recreated Zhang Linghe’s childhood photos or somehow cast a child who was actually related to him.
The uncanny resemblance quickly became a hot topic across Chinese social media.
Comments poured in, with fans writing, “The production team must have searched for a child based on Zhang Linghe’s face,” and “There’s no need for a DNA test.”
Others joked, “This is literally copy and paste,” and “He looks even more like Zhang Linghe than an AI-generated child would.” One of the most-liked comments read, “Even Zhang Linghe himself couldn’t have a son who looks this much like him.”
Interestingly, Zhang Linghe didn’t seem to notice the resemblance at first. It wasn’t until he watched a livestream with fans and saw the comment section flooded with messages saying that his “son” looked exactly like him that he realized what everyone was talking about.
After catching on to the viral discussion, Zhang Linghe laughed it off and happily joined in on the joke while interacting with fans.
