One of Murong Qingyi’s lines, “She’s alive, and I’ve gone crazy,” quickly went viral on social media, perfectly capturing the heartbreak and emotional turmoil of the character.
As the drama continues to soar in popularity, iQIYI International has revealed the three scenes fans have rewatched the most.
Topping the list is the episode five scene in which Ren Susu fiercely defends Murong Qingyi. After his fiancée insults him, Ren Susu refuses to stay silent. She stands up for him and shields him, declaring, “I’m here. Don’t be afraid.” The sequence transforms a tense confrontation into a powerful display of loyalty, making it one of the series’ most satisfying moments.
The second most rewatched scene comes from episode six, when Ren Susu kneels before Murong Qingyi, pleading with him to deliver an aircraft to the aviation academy on schedule so their revenge plan can continue. However, Murong Qingyi mistakenly believes she is humiliating herself for the sake of his older brother, Murong Qingyu. The misunderstanding only deepens the emotional conflict between them while fueling his jealousy.
Ranking third is the unforgettable forced kiss scene in episode three. After finally realizing that Fang Mulan is actually Ren Susu, Murong Qingyi can no longer suppress the pain, love, and betrayal he has carried for years. Overcome by emotion, he pulls her close and kisses her.
The pair’s noticeable height difference, intense eye contact, and emotionally charged performances quickly made the scene one of the drama’s most talked-about moments online. Memorable lines such as, “I’ve missed you so much I wanted to tear you apart,” and “So this is what it feels like to kiss you for the first time,” have also become fan-favorite quotes.
While those emotionally explosive scenes have become audience favorites, Zhang Linghe revealed that his personal favorite is actually the period before Murong Qingyi and Ren Susu ever meet face-to-face.
According to the actor, the letters they exchange represent the purest stage of their relationship. Even without meeting in person, the two gradually fall in love through their correspondence. To bring that emotional connection to life, the production team created an imaginative visual space where the characters appear to communicate directly through their letters, emphasizing the idea that they fell in love long before they ever met.
Reflecting on the scene where their characters finally reunite, Zhang Linghe and Wang Churan joked that filming it felt like meeting an online friend for the first time. Although their characters already knew each other through their letters, the mixture of curiosity and unfamiliarity made the reunion feel even more authentic.
Wang Churan, meanwhile, picked a sweeter moment as her favorite. She especially enjoyed the scene in which Murong Qingyi carefully bandages Ren Susu’s injury. When Ren Susu playfully asks him to tie the bandage into a butterfly bow, the pair briefly step away from the drama’s angst-filled storyline and share one of its most heartwarming interactions.
Beyond the drama itself, behind-the-scenes footage of Zhang Linghe and Wang Churan trying on wedding attire has also sparked buzz among fans. Wang Churan stuns in a vintage bridal gown, while Zhang Linghe looks dashing in a tailored suit. Standing side by side, the two resemble the leading couple from a Republican-era Chinese romance novel.
In one memorable scene, Murong Qingyi approaches Ren Susu with a measuring tape to measure her waist, creating an intimate atmosphere that delighted viewers. Off camera, however, Zhang Linghe playfully fumbled with the tape measure, creating a humorous contrast to his character’s cool and composed personality.
The drama’s popularity has even reached fellow celebrities. Actress Michelle Chen recently shared that she has been keeping up with Overdo, calling it “absolutely crazy and completely addictive.” She added that she has already caught up with the latest episodes. Her post later caught the attention of Fu Xinbo, who plays Murong Qingyu, and he jokingly replied, “Verified. This recommendation is 100% effective.”
With love, family loyalty, and revenge continuing to collide, the emotional journey of Murong Qingyi and Ren Susu shows no signs of slowing down. Overdo is currently streaming on iQIYI International.
