LayarHijau – Chinese fantasy drama Soul Judgement of Jiuchuan (Soul Judgement of Nine Rivers) has officially wrapped filming. The series, produced by Qianyi Film and Television, is set to stream exclusively on Tencent Video and has now entered post-production.
The drama is led by director, head writer, and chief producer Zhou Xiao, with Tian Jiarui starring as Yun Jiuchuan. The cast also includes Cheng Hongxin, Wan Yuhan, Lu Yicheng, Lü Xing, Yang Mingna, Du Yuming, Du Yiheng, He Zhonghua, Yu Bo, Hu Yunhao, Lin Zehui, Lin Xiaozhai, Xie Binbin, Liu Mingming, Wu Jiahui, Wang Jiangyi, and Liu Changchun.
Soul Judgement of Nine Rivers follows Yun Jiuchuan, a man who returns after death and ends up living as the abandoned son of a noble family. As he becomes entangled in the struggles between mystical sects, family power battles, and court politics, he is forced to confront both his past and his fate.
The series combines revenge, destiny, and questions of justice at the center of its story. As the mystery surrounding Yun Jiuchuan’s background slowly unfolds, the burden of his destiny grows heavier. To survive, he joins forces with allies including Gong Qi and Jiang Li, a white tiger spirit bound to him by contract.
Their journey is filled with mystical battles, shifting alliances between powerful families, and difficult choices between good and evil. Over time, Yun Jiuchuan transforms from someone trapped by circumstances into a figure determined to take control of his own fate.
Earlier promotional materials for the drama already attracted attention for their dark visual style and heavy use of visual effects. During filming, Tian Jiarui’s various looks and performances as Yun Jiuchuan also became a hot topic online.
Behind-the-scenes clips showcased different sides of the character, from a sharp and spirited young man to a mysterious figure gradually taking command of his destiny. The drama’s character styling and visual tone have also been noted for standing apart from many traditional Chinese fantasy costume dramas.
Beyond Yun Jiuchuan’s personal journey, the drama also explores the interconnected fates of multiple characters from different backgrounds. Fantasy elements, political conflict, and emotional relationships are expected to play a major role throughout the story.
The production also brought together several experienced industry veterans behind the scenes. The creative team includes cinematographer Li Decheng, known for Pursuit of Jade and The Story of Pearl Girl, lighting director Chen Li from Luoyang and The Story of Pearl Girl, and action director Yin Jiyuan, who previously worked on The Blood of Youth and Blood River.
The newly released wrap-up video offers a glimpse into the months-long filming process, showing the cast and crew working through spring and early summer to perfect each scene and visual detail.
With filming now complete, Soul Judgement of Jiuchuan has officially entered post-production and has already opened reservations on Tencent Video ahead of its exclusive release.
