LayarHijau— The Chinese drama industry is buzzing once again with an actor who is capturing hearts through a charismatic antagonistic role. In the historical romance drama Pursuit of Jade, starring Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei, actor Deng Kai successfully stole the spotlight through his portrayal of Prince Qi Min. This character is depicted as an obsessive, ruthless, and deceitful figure, yet possesses an extraordinary visual appeal with his iconic silver hair and luxurious black fur cloak.
This success marks a major turning point in Deng Kai’s career, which has spanned eight years in the acting world. Previously, he frequently appeared as a supporting actor in various popular projects such as The Blood of Youth, Destined, and Unveil: Jadewind, but his name was rarely the main topic of conversation. Through Pursuit of Jade, he proved his acting prowess with micro-expressions and a sharp gaze, leading many viewers to state that he “successfully interpreted Qi Min’s cold and ruthless character with absolute perfection.”

Deng Kai’s popularity skyrocketed with the addition of over one million followers on social media in a short period. One of the main factors triggering this popularity surge is his strong chemistry with actress Kong Xueer, who plays the female supporting lead. Their relationship in the drama became one of the most talked-about points, leading them to secure a joint advertising contract as brand ambassadors for L’Oréal.
This success has also brought Deng Kai onto the radar of international luxury brands. He became the first supporting actor from Pursuit of Jade to be invited to attend a Prada pop-up store event in Shanghai. Furthermore, he has been appointed as a brand friend for Shiseido. Industry observers noted that “every appearance he makes exudes a very strong aura, turning every scene into a highlight,” confirming his transition from a supporting actor to a new fashion icon.
Recently, Deng Kai graced the cover of Madame Figaro Hommes China for the April issue. In the photoshoot, he revisited the silver hair styling that reminded fans of the character Qi Min. Wearing the latest collections from Gucci Spring/Summer 2026 and Burberry Summer 2026, Deng Kai showcased a charm that transcends time and space. The magazine’s sales reached fantastic figures, with 6,435 copies sold within the first three hours, reaching a transaction value of 320,000 RMB (USD 46,809).
