In the final part of the story, the narrative reaches its peak as Duan Xu leads a massive war against the kingdom of Dan Zhi. After a long strategic campaign, he successfully turns the tide, recaptures the northern territories, and ultimately brings down the enemy capital, leading to the complete سقوط of the kingdom. Despite his ruthlessness in war, Duan Xu enforces a strict rule: civilians must not be harmed.
This victory establishes him as a great hero of Great Liang. However, instead of holding onto power, Duan Xu chooses to step down. He returns his military authority, refuses rewards, and withdraws from public life.
