LayarHijau – A funny behind-the-scenes clip from the Chinese drama The Early Spring (早春晴朗) has revealed the surprising reality behind one of Shang Zhi Tao’s meeting-room scenes, played by Sun Qian. In the drama, Shang Zhi Tao appears serious and confident as she speaks in the meeting room, as if she is delivering an important presentation during a formal meeting.
However, the convincing scene was actually filmed without recording the dialogue. The director had already told the cast that the scene would not be recorded for sound, as the focus was only on the actors’ expressions and the overall atmosphere.
Once Sun Qian learned that there would be no sound recording, she decided to improvise. She simply made up her own dialogue while facing the camera with a completely serious expression, making the scene look like a genuine business meeting.
Sun Qian initially talked about her plans after work, including what she intended to do once she finished for the day, before eventually declaring herself “the happiest little girl in the world.” Her conversation then suddenly shifted to Luan Nian, the character played by Jing Boran.
Still keeping a straight face, Sun Qian began criticizing Luan Nian, saying that he could be happy one moment and unhappy the next, liked to make cutting remarks toward other people, and often did not say what he truly felt. She even gave him some serious-sounding relationship advice.
“When you look for a partner in the future, don’t find someone like this,” Sun Qian said during her improvised speech, without breaking character.
Her comments were aimed at Luan Nian, not Jing Boran personally. However, with Jing Boran sitting directly across from her, the actor still had to maintain Luan Nian’s cool and composed demeanor throughout the scene.
After spending quite some time criticizing Luan Nian, Sun Qian suddenly made a complete turn and began praising Jing Boran. She said that one of the reasons she was so happy to work on the drama was because she had the opportunity to work with him.
Sun Qian described working with Jing Boran as a “happy” and “wonderful” experience and said she felt honored to be part of The Early Spring.
Jing Boran’s reaction became one of the funniest parts of the behind-the-scenes footage. As Luan Nian, he had to maintain the image of a cool and composed executive, meaning he could not simply react to Sun Qian’s increasingly ridiculous improvisation.
The BTS footage shows Jing Boran trying his hardest not to laugh while maintaining a serious expression. His subtle facial reactions make it clear that staying composed was becoming increasingly difficult as Sun Qian continued speaking with complete seriousness.
Jing Boran was not the only one trying to hold it together. The other actors and extras in the meeting room also had to suppress their laughter. Meanwhile, Sun Qian continued talking in front of the camera as if she were delivering an important presentation.
The huge contrast between the finished scene and what was actually happening behind the scenes made the clip especially entertaining. In the drama, Shang Zhi Tao appears to be seriously delivering a presentation in a meeting. Behind the scenes, however, Sun Qian was free to make up her own dialogue because the scene was not being recorded for sound.
The BTS footage soon sparked discussion among viewers, with a keyword related to Sun Qian, The Early Spring and her improvised meeting-room performance also climbing Weibo’s trending searches.
Many viewers said they had no idea the conversation in the meeting scene was improvised. They also praised the cast for managing to maintain such serious expressions while Sun Qian continued saying increasingly unexpected things.
Some fans joked that Sun Qian was truly “talking nonsense with a straight face,” while Jing Boran had the much harder task of trying not to laugh right in front of his co-star. His struggle to remain in character as Luan Nian ultimately became one of the funniest parts of the behind-the-scenes footage.
