The Queen of Brilliance is directed by Chen Chang, who previously directed Love’s Ambition (许我耀眼). The drama is produced by Tencent Video together with Jinhe Film and Television, with Jinhe handling production. It is planned to stream exclusively on Tencent Video.
The story follows Zhou Tianna, who is at the peak of her career while her marriage to Liang Che is nearly falling apart. She faces competition from a younger star and pressure from her mother-in-law, then fights to reinvent her career and ends up transforming herself. The drama is set in the entertainment industry and centers on a woman’s personal growth rather than an unrealistic sugar-coated romance.
Filming is planned to run about 85 days. The production side previously stated that the script is original, not an adaptation of a novel, and that the registration synopsis circulating online is inaccurate. At the event, Tencent Video announced only the project and cast, without releasing other promotional materials.
Before the announcement, reports circulated that another actor would play the male lead. Fan Chengcheng’s team later said the project was “basically confirmed.” Several Chinese media outlets have also called the drama a “sister” to Love’s Ambition because they share a director and genre. However, that connection is the media’s assessment, not an official statement from the production. Love’s Ambition premiered on September 26, 2025, with Zhao Lusi and William Chan as the leads.
