LayarHijau — The latest trailer for The One (剑来), titled Caged Bird, has drawn a positive response from viewers. It was released at Tencent Video’s annual event for business partners on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026. Most of the praise has gone to the visuals, a blend of special effects and real-world sets, and some viewers have called it the best fantasy cultivation drama of the year.
Tencent Video previously released a concept video in November 2025, followed by a trailer and the full cast lineup on June 24, 2026.

Several entertainment bloggers and accounts have praised the new trailer’s aesthetics, special effects, dialogue and pacing. They called it the kind of trailer that makes viewers curious about the main story.

Many comments focused on the art direction, which they said is far ahead of other dramas released in the same period. The imagery has been described as Eastern ink-wash paintings brought to life. Other viewers said the drama brings an everyday, earthy feel to a cultivation story, with a sharp contrast between rural life in the first half and the tension of a small town’s hidden secrets in the second half.
In terms of pacing, the trailer opens with narration by Wu Lei, slowly laying out daily life in the countryside. In the second half, it turns quickly to mysteries such as life-bound porcelain and a birdcage. The transitions between scenes have also drawn attention, and viewers said the camera work and storytelling feel carefully crafted.
Wu Lei’s narration has been praised as pleasant to listen to. He plays Chen Pingan, the lead character, who is portrayed as an orphaned young man from a small town. Some viewers see the role as another standout addition to his body of work.
The trailer also features action scenes that appeared in the first season of the animated series Sword of Coming (剑来), including a fight scene for Chen Pingan. Two other key characters from that story appear as well. Ning Yao, a young sword-wielding girl from outside the town, is played by Li Wanda. Qi Jingchun, Chen Pingan’s teacher and mentor, is played by Chang Chen.
Despite the raised expectations, bloggers have cautioned that the final verdict will depend on the quality of the finished drama. The trailer is early promotional material shown at an event for business partners, not a final 2027 release schedule, and no premiere date has been announced for the drama.
