LayarHijau – WeTV has officially released its latest Chinese drama, Love Story in the 1970s, a 29-episode romantic series that takes viewers back to a time filled with limitations, yet also hope. Set against the backdrop of the 1970s, the drama portrays a heartfelt journey of ambition, resilience, and love growing amid social constraints.
The story centers on Fei Ni, played by Sun Qian, a young woman working at a hat factory who is determined to change her destiny through education. Living in a challenging social environment, Fei Ni firmly believes that attending university is her only path toward a better and more secure future.
Her life takes an unexpected turn when she reunites with Fang Muyang, her former middle school classmate portrayed by Chen Feiyu. Fang Muyang suddenly gains recognition in the community after being injured while saving someone. Seeing a rare opportunity, Fei Ni sincerely takes care of him, hoping that her devotion might help her secure a university recommendation she has long dreamed of obtaining.
However, her pursuit of higher education proves far from easy. Repeated disappointments shatter her hopes, while financial pressures continue to weigh heavily on her family. In an effort to help her older brother resolve housing issues after marriage, Fei Ni proposes a fake marriage arrangement with Fang Muyang so they can qualify for separate housing.
What begins as a practical agreement gradually evolves into something more meaningful. As the two navigate life together as a young couple in a modest home, shared struggles bring them closer. Through hardship and companionship, genuine affection slowly replaces what was once merely a mutual arrangement.
In addition to Chen Feiyu and Sun Qian, the drama also features performances by Guo Xiaoting, Wang Tianchen, and Mintao Liu, who add depth to the lives surrounding Fei Ni and Fang Muyang.
Blending warm romance with a realistic depiction of chasing dreams in a difficult era, Love Story in the 1970s offers an emotional and relatable viewing experience. The series is available exclusively on WeTV.
