LayarHijau– Chinese actress Wang Churan trended on Weibo on Saturday, December 13, after an old interview clip resurfaced and went viral. In the interview, Wang Churan revealed that she has severe myopia of around 600 degrees and has chosen not to undergo vision correction procedures such as LASIK due to fear.

In the video, Wang Churan explained that her eyesight condition sometimes makes her feel nauseous. Despite this, she said she is unwilling to consider LASIK surgery because of lingering trauma from a scene she once watched in the Final Destination film series. “I’m scared. I saw a scene from Final Destination—it was really terrifying. If I were there undergoing LASIK, all I could think about would be running away,” she said.

The scene Wang Churan referred to comes from Final Destination 5, involving the character Olivia Castle, portrayed by Canadian actress Jacqueline MacInnes Wood.

In the film, Olivia dies while undergoing LASIK surgery at a clinic after being left alone on the operating table by her doctor. What follows is a chain of events that leads to a gruesome death, a scene widely regarded as one of the most graphic moments in the Final Destination franchise.

The resurfaced interview sparked discussion among Weibo users. One user commented, “No wonder she always carries eye drops, even at events. But her eye condition doesn’t affect her beauty at all.” The comment was accompanied by photos of Wang Churan using eye drops at the iQiyi Scream Night 2025 event.

Another user shared a personal experience, saying they also suffer from severe myopia but with different effects. “I have high myopia too, but unlike her, my eyes look like they’re bulging,” the user wrote, adding that they have been considering LASIK surgery for some time.

Meanwhile, other users focused on LASIK itself, pointing out that post-surgery recovery usually requires several days. Some noted that this could be a significant consideration for an actress like Wang Churan, as it would require rest and potentially delay filming and promotional schedules.
