LayarHijau – Chinese actor Yang Yang has finally spoken out about his rare public appearances over the past two years. His popularity dipped after his role in the drama Fireworks of My Heart alongside Wang Churan, where his performance received criticism for being less natural. He also faced romantic rumors involving his co-star, which affected public perception of him. Some of his earlier interview comments drew mixed reactions, further influencing his image, Upmedia wrote.
Yang Yang gained widespread recognition through hit dramas Love O2O and You Are My Glory, cementing his status as one of China’s top actors. Since his debut in The Lost Tomb and Whirlwind Girl in 2015, he has amassed millions of followers on Weibo, with a significant spike after Love O2O. Subsequent dramas, including You Are My Glory and Who Rules the World, further solidified his reputation as a leading actor.

Despite facing challenges, Yang Yang focused on improving his acting skills. He returned with a more mature performance in the fantasy drama The Immortal Ascension, adapted from the novel A Record of a Mortal’s Journey to Immortality. In the series, he portrays Han Li, a young villager striving to rise from an ordinary life to attain godhood. Yang Yang’s serious and natural portrayal of Han Li earned praise from fans, helping restore his public image and popularity.
In a recent interview with CCTV, Yang Yang reflected on his difficult period: “During that time, perhaps people didn’t like me very much, so I decided to appear less frequently in public.” When asked, “Han Li chooses to keep growing despite difficulties. Does the same apply to your own life?” he replied that being an actor comes with challenges, and that period was a time for learning and introspection. He emphasized the value of criticism in the learning process: “Not everyone will like everything you do as an actor, but what matters is staying sincere, positive, and appreciating every opportunity.”
Fans have praised his humble and composed attitude during these trying times, marking a notable shift from two years ago. With his more mature and reflective acting now on display, Yang Yang has proven he can overcome challenges and reclaim his place at the top of his career.
