LayarHijau – The Tencent Video All Star Night 2024 awards show was previously predicted to dominate trending topics on Weibo. This prediction made sense, as the event was attended by hundreds of stars in China.
Who would have thought that during the event, actor Li Mingde would appear to criticize his fellow cast member from The Triple Echo of Time, Ma Tian Yu, and the drama’s crew? His criticism quickly took the top spot on Weibo’s hot search list. The hashtags related to the conflict between Li Mingde and the crew of The Triple Echo of Time and Ma Tian Yu occupied the second to fourth spots on the trending topics list at the time this article was written.

Who would have imagined that a relatively unknown actor could steal the spotlight and overshadow the popularity of an event filled with other stars?
Netizens in China found this situation amusing and responded to the phenomenon using the hashtag Starlight Awards Director vs. Li Mingde.
They used this hashtag to discuss the tactics of the director of the Tencent Video All Star Night 2024 program, who seemed to be struggling to present something interesting with various camera tricks to highlight different stars.
As previously noted by Layar Hijau, for example, when Li Landi took the stage to receive her award and deliver her victory speech, the camera instead focused on Zhang Xincheng.
The camera also briefly centered on the couple Meng Ziyi and Li Yunrui, known as the CP Zhao Zhao Mo Mo due to their popularity after starring in the drama Blossom.
“I’m dying of laughter, Li Mingde really took down the entire Starlight Awards by himself! The spotlight that the Starlight Awards had been waiting for a year was snatched away by Li Mingde! [laugh cry][laugh cry][laugh cry],” commented a Weibo user.
“Director, you’re great at cutting shots, hahaha, if you don’t work harder, you’ll be unemployed!” joked another user.
“Li Mingde has truly driven the Starlight Awards director crazy!” quipped one netizen.
“Li Mingde is fighting against the domestic entertainment industry all by himself,” wrote another.
Most other users expressed that they found the situation genuinely funny. Some netizens felt that the person who first created this hashtag was really clever in capitalizing on the situation.
