The video was filmed by a sasaeng (obsessive fan who stalks celebrities). According to the studio, the footage spread across multiple platforms with claims such as “romance exposed” and “sasaeng catches ‘sister-in-law.’” The topic was pushed onto trending lists and spread among netizens.
The studio explained: “The footage was taken during normal work travel, and the staff member was accompanying him according to her work schedule. Characterizing normal work collaboration as a private romantic relationship is pure fabrication.” On his personal status, the studio stated: “The claims about a ‘romantic relationship’ have no factual basis whatsoever. Do not spread false information.”
The studio also drew attention to how the video was filmed. According to the statement, the sasaeng approached the car window to film while the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light. The studio said the act disrupted the flow of traffic and endangered road safety. It also said the person allegedly followed the actor’s car and flights on multiple occasions. The studio considers the behavior a violation of privacy and said it has zero tolerance for it.
The studio said it has begun legal proceedings and is continuing to gather evidence. It has retained lawyers to preserve evidence from accounts it says spread insults and defamation against the actor. The studio stressed that it will pursue all legal avenues, including litigation.
In closing, the studio said: “The internet is not a lawless place.” It urged netizens not to believe or spread false rumors and to refocus on the actor’s work. The studio added that Deng Kai is currently focused on filming with his crew.
Sohu Entertainment reported that Deng Kai’s official fan club had also responded to the rumors. The fan club said the woman in the video is a member of the actor’s staff and denied any romantic relationship. It stated: “Content circulating online about the artist’s relationship with his staff is untrue. The two only have a normal working relationship.” The fan club also called on netizens not to believe or spread false rumors.
