LayarHijau – Bai Lu has responded to the controversy surrounding her upcoming drama Kai Dao Tu Mi (开到荼蘼). On August 6, the actress shared a statement on social media after some fans raised concerns over allegations that supporting characters were receiving excessive additional scenes in the drama.
Previously, some Bai Lu fans questioned the production team’s decisions, claiming that supporting characters were being given more screen time. They worried that the changes could affect the focus of the main storyline centered on Wang Yunna, Bai Lu’s character, especially the revenge storyline that serves as an important part of the drama.
Responding to the concerns, Bai Lu asked fans to trust the production process of Kai Dao Tu Mi.
“Thank you to all the Lu Rong (Bai Lu’s fans) for your attention to Kai Dao Tu Mi. After returning to filming after more than half a year, I understand how much everyone cares about this drama. I also hope you can trust my judgment of this project,” Bai Lu wrote.
Bai Lu explained that she first received the project while filming The First Jasmine (莫离) last year. At that time, the script she received was already a complete version.
“When I discussed this project while filming The First Jasmine last year, the script I received was already the full script. Every character plays an important role in advancing the story,” Bai Lu said.
She added that Kai Dao Tu Mi had only been filming for more than ten days, meaning the production team was still making adjustments and revisions to improve the quality of the drama.
“The drama has only been filming for more than ten days. The production team is making necessary adjustments and revisions to polish the content. In the entertainment industry, this is a very normal process,” she explained.
Bai Lu also said that the opinions shared by fans have been noticed by her team.
“We have always paid attention to the suggestions everyone has shared and have taken them seriously. Please don’t worry about this,” she wrote.
The actress revealed that Kai Dao Tu Mi is a genre she has never attempted before and that she really likes her character Wang Yunna.
“Kai Dao Tu Mi is a theme I have never tried before. Wang Yunna is also a character I really like,” Bai Lu said.
She added that the cast and crew have been working hard to create the best possible story.
“All the actors are working seriously and professionally. The entire crew is doing their best to create a better story and visuals. During this half month of filming, I have felt very fulfilled and happy,” she said.
Bai Lu then asked fans to provide a positive creative environment so the production team can complete the drama smoothly.
“Whether online or offline, I hope everyone can give us a good creative environment so we can finish this project with peace of mind,” Bai Lu wrote.
She ended her statement by referencing the drama’s title:
“When the flowers of Kai Dao Tu Mi bloom, we will surely meet everyone in our best form.”
Kai Dao Tu Mi (开到荼蘼) is a Chinese drama adapted from Yi Shu’s novel of the same name. The drama is produced by Tencent Video and Chenghao Pictures, directed by Li Muge, with Dong Runnian as script supervisor and Lu Tian as screenwriter.
The drama stars Bai Lu, Gao Haining, and Chang Huasen as the main cast, with Peng Guanying making a special appearance.
The story follows Wang Yunna, who leaves for the United States after suffering emotional trauma from a past relationship. Seven years later, she returns to Hong Kong and meets Zuo Wensi, a talented figure in the fashion industry.
The two eventually develop a romantic relationship, but Wang Yunna discovers that Zuo Wensi’s brother-in-law is actually her former lover, Teng Haiqi.
Teng Haiqi then uses Wang Yunna’s family’s massive debt as leverage to force her to leave Zuo Wensi. After being emotionally devastated once again, Wang Yunna decides to leave for North America.
At the same time, news breaks that Teng Haiqi has been murdered. The incident reopens old conflicts and changes Wang Yunna’s life once again.
Kai Dao Tu Mi officially began filming on July 24, 2026, and has become one of Bai Lu’s most anticipated upcoming projects.
