LayarHijau – Stephen Chow’s latest film, Kung Fu Soccer (《功夫女足》), has exceeded expectations at the Chinese box office. Although audience reactions have been mixed, the film has delivered a remarkably strong commercial debut.
According to Sohu Entertainment, Kung Fu Soccer opened with a 6.6/10 rating on Douban, indicating a divided response from moviegoers. Even so, the mixed reviews have done little to dampen ticket sales.

The film grossed approximately 260 million yuan (about US$36.3 million) on its opening day, followed by another 240 million yuan (around US$33.5 million) on day two.
That pushed its total box office haul to more than 500 million yuan, or over US$70 million, in just two days.
The stronger-than-expected opening prompted Dengta Professional Edition to raise its final box office forecast to nearly 2.1 billion yuan (about US$293 million).
Meanwhile, Maoyan Professional Edition has become even more bullish, increasing its projection to around 2.5 billion yuan, or approximately US$349 million.
If that estimate proves accurate, Kung Fu Soccer will finish as China’s second highest-grossing film of 2026, trailing only Pegasus 3 (飞驰人生3). The impressive opening suggests Stephen Chow’s latest feature has successfully translated strong audience interest into exceptional box office momentum despite its mixed critical reception.
