LayarHijau – Great news for fans of the drama Love Has Fireworks who are still mourning the end of the series! The author of the original novel, Hong Jiu, has dropped a special surprise by announcing she will write a continuation focusing on the married life of the main characters, Li Yifei and Qian Fei. This announcement has sent fans of the drama, starring Wang Churan and Tan Jianci, into an absolute frenzy of joy and anticipation.
From a “Shelved” Underdog to Stealing Hearts
Love Has Fireworks has had quite the extraordinary journey. Shelved for nearly three years and airing with zero promotion, the drama initially struggled with low ratings, securing a mere 2.1% market share upon its premiere. However, thanks to the undeniable chemistry between Wang Churan and Tan Jianci, the show slowly captured the audience’s attention and turned the tide.

The climax arrived during the finale, featuring a sweet wedding scene, where the drama’s market share skyrocketed to an impressive 16.6%, taking the top spot in its time slot. With a total of 300 million views, the drama proved to be a massive hit and a true dark horse of the summer season.
Touched by Fan Enthusiasm, the Author Offers a Special Gift
Seeing the overwhelming enthusiasm from the viewers, Hong Jiu, the author of the original novel Investment Bank Men and Women which the drama is based on, was deeply moved. She spontaneously announced she would be writing a special spin-off just for the fans to ease their post-drama blues.
“I wrote a little post-marriage spin-off for Li Yifei and Qian Fei as a token of my appreciation. I hope it can ease your reluctance to say goodbye. Mwah~ I’m posting one today, and there will be more to come,” Hong Jiu wrote on Weibo.
The announcement was met with overwhelming joy from fans who have followed the journey of Li Yifei and Qian Fei. Many expressed their gratitude and excitement, thrilled to get more of their favorite story even after the drama has officially ended.
Flawless Performances Earn High Praise from the Original Author
In her post, Hong Jiu also heaped high praise on the two lead actors, noting that they perfectly brought her characters to life.
“Tan Jianci successfully brought the character of Li Yifei, an arrogant and sharp-tongued elite, to life. If played poorly, this character could easily become an annoying and unnatural cliché. But Tan Jianci injected the role with comedy and charisma through his precise delivery and tone,” Hong Jiu praised.
As for Wang Churan, the author noted she perfectly captured the essence of Qian Fei. “She brought an incredibly lively and beautiful presence to Qian Fei. She perfectly portrayed the natural charm and vitality of a young professional navigating life in Shanghai,” she added.
A Natural Romance That Truly Resonates
Fans and critics alike agree that one of the drama’s strongest points is its natural, unforced romance. The dynamic between Li Yifei and Qian Fei—filled with playful bickering, mutual support, and a mature, equal partnership—feels incredibly authentic.
Rather than relying on forced sweetness or cliché romantic tropes, Love Has Fireworks showcases sparks of affection growing naturally through their daily interactions, allowing the audience to connect emotionally with their journey. Hong Jiu even emphasized that the chemistry between Wang Churan and Tan Jianci is truly one of a kind, stating, “If you replaced them with anyone else, they wouldn’t be able to recreate this chemistry.”
Fans Hope for a Full Sequel Adaptation
With the release of this text-based spin-off, fans are now holding onto the hope that a full sequel or spin-off drama might be in the works someday. The massive audience enthusiasm and the drama’s success across various platforms are seen as strong leverage to make this dream a reality.
In the meantime, fans can enjoy the newly written chapters penned by Hong Jiu herself. This sweet surprise from the original author proves that Love Has Fireworks is more than just a regular drama; it has become a special story that leaves a lasting impression on its viewers.
