LayarHijau – He’s often dubbed the ultimate hardworking star of the entertainment industry, always showing up on camera looking flawless and put-together. But who would have guessed that behind that perfect smile, Zhang Linghe has been hiding some deeply concerning health issues? The shocking truth was finally revealed on the latest variety show, Our Dormitories Season 2: Back to Heart, leaving fans absolutely heartbroken.
During a medical checkup segment on the show, Zhang’s health report exposed the heavy toll his career has taken on his body. First up, he suffers from a severe immune system allergy to everyday foods like eggs, baked goods, and wheat fermentation. Eating even a tiny bit of the wrong thing triggers full-body hives and acute rhinitis. Imagine how miserable that must be for an actor who usually has to rely on whatever boxed meals are available on set. To make matters worse, in order to fit a specific character role, the 6-foot-3 star once went on an extreme diet, dropping his weight all the way down to just 145 pounds. Seeing his frail frame left his crew and co-stars deeply worried.

But the most alarming revelation was about his sleep schedule. Zhang admitted that he suffers from severe insomnia due to his grueling work hours and chaotic routine. He even shared a terrifying record: he once slept for less than 20 hours over an entire seven-day stretch!
This is where the “living on coffee” part of his reality kicks in. To stay awake and look camera-ready, Zhang would down three to four cups of strong, concentrated coffee on a completely empty stomach. His doctor actually had to step in and issue a stern warning, telling him this dangerous habit could lead to heart palpitations and even the risk of sudden death.
As if chronic health issues weren’t enough, old injuries from his acting days also came to light. While filming the historical drama The Road to Glory, Zhang suffered a severe knee injury that left him unable to bend his leg, requiring him to be supported just to walk. Instead of complaining or taking a break, the ever-professional actor did the exact opposite. He recorded seven long voice messages to comfort the fans who had shown up at the location. Fighting through the pain, he casually brushed it off, telling them, “It’s just a minor sprain, guys are tough, it’s nothing.” This selfless attitude instantly had his fans in tears.
His honest confessions from Our Dormitories Season 2: Back to Heart immediately sparked a massive trending topic on Chinese social media, including a viral hashtag where fans lamented that their sympathy for him was “on a time delay” because they didn’t know he was suffering. Countless netizens felt a deep sense of relatability. They pointed out that Zhang’s struggle to “survive” on coffee while hiding his pain for the sake of his job perfectly mirrors the reality of everyday hardworking people who have to put on a brave face even when they’re completely exhausted.
