LayarHijau – Chinese actress Huang Yang Tiantian has issued a public apology on April 27 after renewed attention surrounding a controversy that has followed her since last year.

“Although the rumors have been clarified, I still sincerely apologize for causing such a major controversy because of myself. It has affected my family, friends, colleagues, and netizens, and it also made my fans worry. I want to sincerely say sorry to everyone. I’m truly upset for involving all of you in this situation. I’m sorry,” she wrote.

She added, “Over the past year, I have received all the criticism. Thank you to everyone who has been willing to push me to grow. I will seriously correct my mistakes and make up for my shortcomings. I have also received all the kindness, and I will work hard to become someone worthy of your trust.”

Her apology comes as a controversy that began in 2025 has resurfaced. At the time, Huang drew attention after an old photo showed her wearing a pair of earrings rumored to be extremely expensive, sparking speculation about her family’s financial background.

Public scrutiny intensified due to her father’s past role in government-affiliated institutions in Ya’an. Although he is no longer a public official, that background placed the family under closer examination. As a result, something relatively common for an actress—wearing seemingly expensive accessories—was questioned, leading to broader suspicions about the family’s wealth and potential abuse of power.

In response to the growing rumors, an official investigation report was released by Xinhua News Agency and compiled by the Ya’an Joint Working Group. The report stated that there was no evidence of involvement in disaster relief funds, public donations, or other large-scale illegal activities.

However, the investigation did confirm administrative violations. Huang’s father was found to have operated a private business while serving in government-related positions between 2011 and 2017. Through family members, he held shares in the company and received about 30,000 yuan in profits, which were later confiscated as illegal income.

Additionally, there was a violation involving the failure to report the birth of a second child during his civil servant application process in 2010. While such an offense would have led to disciplinary action under regulations at the time, changes in policy and his current non-active status meant no further penalties were imposed.

As for the earrings that triggered the controversy, the investigation clarified that they were not luxury items but made of glass and had been a gift to Huang’s mother in 2016. No purchase records were found at official luxury brand stores in China.

Amid the peak of public pressure, further speculation emerged, including rumors that Huang’s role in the drama Rebirth would be altered, with claims that her face might even be digitally replaced. These rumors gained traction after her name was briefly absent from a promotional post.

However, those claims ultimately proved unfounded. Rebirth was released as scheduled with Huang Yang Tiantian remaining part of the cast, with no changes or replacements taking place.

In the end, the “face replacement” narrative appears to have been a byproduct of intense public scrutiny rather than an actual production decision. Now that official clarifications have been issued and the situation has settled, Huang has chosen to address the public directly, reaffirming her commitment to personal growth and accountability.
